3. Blitzer: What do you make of Clark's surge?
Dean: I am headed there in 4 hours. Things will turn about a bit.

Says he isn't dissapointed with his 3rd place finish tonight.

5. Of course Dean has to be disappointed.
This time last week, he was in first.

8. Translation: I am on my way to New Hampshire to begin bashing Clark
because that tactic has worked so well against Kerry. We're ready Howard, fire away.

He didn't concede, but it was close. First Time Dean has spoken when I didn't see him angry. He actually looks better that way.

I hope this doesn't discourage the young vote that Dean has encouraged...

7. Perhaps he was merely saying they ran a good race
While not conceding defeat. It doesn't sound like a concession. That could be the comment of a winner or a loser.

"John Kerry and John Edwards just called me to concede. I'd like to congratulate them on a race well run."

OR

"A few moments ago I conceded to John Kerry (or Edwards). I'd like to congratulate John Kerry (or Edwards), and all the Democratic candidates, on a race well run."

13. I feel like
he was conceding to not being in first place, but in the top 3 and that was what was important. He wouldn't outright say third when King pressed him.

I'm really beside myself, I think Dean is done for, and I donated a substantial amount of money to his campaign.

Even if he wins NH look for the strong second to get all the coverage, especially if its Kerry and he brings momentum with him from Iowa.

To remain a viable candidate, Dean will have to win big in NH and do well on Feb 7, that now looks unlikely.

16. honestly i'm stunned
i though Dean had a lock on 30%... Trippi seemed to think so - and he's usually pretty good with his numbers. If Dean comes in sub 20% it will be BAD for his ability to draw undecideds anywhere for a while, and could really hurt his soft support in NH.

17. Dean To News Media: Get A Life
Dean appears to have been in a bad mood today. Maybe he had an idea of what would happen.

19. He did seem off his mark........
and Trippee has seemed depressed for a few days now. I think they knew. They ALL seemed tired for a few days now. But still, it just doesn't seem right to me somehow.
