It's free, and they seem to be nice people to deal with (the company was recently bought by Google, if that means anything to you one way or the other).

18. I recommend also the free (and French) BlogSpirit.com

I find Blogger.com to be slow and overloaded at times.

When I went around comparing free blog services (and I didn't want to go through a learning curve with installing, say, WordPress), I found BlogSpirit.com to have the most features I wanted. And they seem to be running on some fast servers!

They're less than a year old, I think, and French. I once wrote to them with some compliments and to inform them of some minor glitches and the president himself answered, which was quite a nice surprise!

Otherwise, if I wanted to spend a few bucks a month, I like TypePad.

I was so mad after the election and I had nowhere to vent. I was not a member of DU even though I had been lurking for a while before. But when I tried to get on after the election to become a member, there was no access. Same with the Moveon.org forums.

I knew then the election had been stolen, but I had no where to write my feelings down, so I had no choice but to start a blog.
