"Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies"-CSM
'Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies . The overwhelming majority voice their objections to what they see as one-sided support in favor of Israel and against Palestinian rights, and the long-standing, even increasing, support for what Muslims collectively see as tyrannies, most notably Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan and the Gulf states. Thus, when American public diplomacy talks about bringing democracy to Islamic societies, this is seen as no more than self-serving hypocrisy.'

Anyone hear about this in the mainstream press? Seems like this would be something our side would be screaming about, but the dems, unfortunately are missing.

your thoughts?

1. al-Zawahri sez much the same today
"You have to choose between one of two methods to deal with Muslims: either on mutual respect and exchange of interests, or to deal with them as if they are spoils of war," al-Zawahri said. "This is your problem and you have to choose yourself. You have to realize that we are a nation of patience and endurance. We will stand firm to fight you with God's help until doomsday."

He added: "The results of the elections do not matter for us. Vote whoever you want, Bush, Kerry or Satin himself. This does not concern us. What concerns us is to purge our land from the aggressors."

2. "purge our land from the aggressors"---the American people need
to understand that they will never stop fighting us as long as our boots are on the ground. The 'insurgents' are fighting for their country, just like we would fight for our country if we were invaded and occupied.

4. The Dems have bought into those policies as much as the Repubs
As far as the media goes, both the CSM and NYT articles degenerate into a discussion about fixing our propaganda instead of our policies.

If you're interested in reading a full broadside on this point, check out the book Imperial Hubris by the formerly Anonymous CIA bin Laden chief.

11. Laurie Anderson
I went to see her just before the election. Her answer to this was to compare us to the pretty girl in school who thinks people hate her because she's pretty.

No, it's because you're a jerk.

We gave her a hearty round of applause for that. She had much to say in her own way about the direction we were headed. Unending war... it will always be this way... we've stepped through the door... very chilling stuff.

I do love that woman.

12. I must be more naive than I thought
i assumed most people knew Muslims' dislike for the U.S. had nothing to do with Bush's Freedom slogan.
