2. I don't know if Keith was just rattled from the whole Dick Ebersol |
|
story or what but he just didn't seem to be even listening to what the guy was saying--or wasn't processing it or something.

6. yes, and he basically said that before the interview. Keith can always |
|
invite Jesse Jackson on later to respond to the Blackwell's ravings.

16. Yes, but Blackwell's Uninterrupted FIRM comments... |
|
overshadowed and seemed to negate Jesse Jackson's videotaped statement from Ohio.
While I appreciate that Keith tries to be 'fair and balanced'...more than most...his allowing of Blackwell's extended, uninterrupted statement really was quite negative to our overall effort for a recount.
Though I must admit, Blackwell seemed QUITE defensive about the "F" word. That's clearly why he agreed to come on the show.
Did you note that he said that the irregularities would be examined in February??? How nice. AFTER the inauguration. How convenient. And he did NOT specify whether he'd have the recount done BEFORE the Electoral College votes. Though I guess that would've been a silly question.

It looks as though the willingness to fight is abating. Take this as a sign of coming surrender.

21. did you guys/gals read the post to which I was responding? |
|
Keith was not himself tonight because he was very much affected by Dick Ebersol's situation.
Let's not read anything else into his handling of this interview--and give the guy a break.

10. did he actually deny meeting with Bush--I was in another room |
|
so couldn't hear every word. But it sounded to me as though he gave a Nixonian reply--that he never did say it was false, i.e., that the truth was he never met with Bush on election day. Instead he just ridiculed people who said he did.

17. Since Keith was the only big network to show Jesse's "fraud" statement... |
|
he probably had to agree to give the Repugs (i.e., Blackwell) 'equal time' to defend it.

19. I had more positive take on it... |
|
I am way encouraged that Blackwell came on the show...if he was as sure of himself, he wouldn't have bothered to come on the show to rattle off his defensive line. The fact that he came on at all to decry the fraud talk signals to me there is something to decry, otherwise wouldn't need to come on to discredit it. My take is that headway is being made, and the personal attacks on Jesse Jackson, says to me that this is development enough to make some folks jittery and nervous. Notice JJ used the word fraud?
If KO was distracted by personal news, he still left the door open for the story to continue to develop and permitted Blackwell to tighten his own noose.

The last thing in the word SOS Blackwell wanted to do was come on a national TV show and defend what went on in Ohio during the election, but he has been forced to do so. They'd like it to all go away and they think that by vilifying Jesse Jackson and saying that the candidates asking for the recount have no reason to do so, they can avoid dealing with the very troubling accounts of pre-election day and election day activities in the rotten state of Ohio. But I also feel that ordinarily KO would have been stronger in nailing the bastard, but for being upset about his friend.
