Please! We'll take back Howie Mandel! We'll let you keep Leslie Neilsen!

We'll even take back Celine Deon... ummm, wait a minute.

yesterday. I didn't see any "5-finger" waves, did you?

28. Do like the Chileans
They were smart...the Chileans were insulted about American security requests...the shit was boiling over all day..and they planned to make their statement at the dinner, when they held back his security detail...in front of cameras.

THAT's the way to show the world that you guys detest Bush...I personally salute the Chilean bodyguards who did the job!

Saludos, amigos!

11. News media in Halifax is having trouble finding pro-bush people
to even out the news coverage for this evening's broadcasts. My friend works at a local station and says the only pro-bush people they can find locally are not mentally fit for a television interview. LOL Are we surprised? hehehe

12. I was at the Grand Parade in Halifax this morning...
Some media whores were interviewing the THREE Chimpy supporters with their "Thank You America" sign, and ignoring the thousands of anti-Chimp demonstrators.

BTW, there were easily 5000 people demonstrating against the chimp in Halifax--all ages, all races, all persuasions. It ROCKED!

:hi:

16. "Buddhists Against the Empire"...
...is what the partially obscured big white banner in a couple of those photos says, BTW. It was carried by a contingent from Halifax's large Shambhala Buddhist community (myself included). We also occasionally bellowed a loud and somewhat enigmatic Tibetan warrior cry, which blended in rather nicely with the other bellowing, of which there was plenty!

Halifax done good today, eh?

18. Here's a great story from a friend of mine
He was at the Grand Parade while people were still gathering and asked a policeman how many people he expected. The policeman replied, "I hope we get ten times as many as there are now--we need to get the message across!"

21. That is great!
Always nice to see signs that the people in uniform really are people, with sympathies not unlike our own.

Reminds me of the scenes during the coup that temporarily toppled Hugo Chavez, and Venezuelan soldiers surreptitiously giving signs of solidarity to the protesters.

25. Well done, Halifax!!
I'm always amazed at the clever banners. Love "war is costly, peace is priceless".

Is Pema Chodron in your community? I think I read she is in Halifax.

My boyfriend has been devouring her books since a friend suggested them when he was going through a deep depression. It's amazing what kind of a turnaround he's had.

27. Thanx!
There were some other great ones, e.g. "If W was pubic hair, I'd shave my bush...". A few were raunchier than that. One of the most moving was an elderly WWII fighter pilot who was carryign a sign, "FLAGRANT VIOLATION OF GENEVA CONVENTIONS..." plus the specific paragraphs.

Pema Chodron is indeed a long-time member of our particular school. We've known her for probably 25 years or so. Normally she's the Abbess of Gampo Abbey in Capew breton, but these days she's staying mostly in California for her health. She's as great as she seems--and utterly hilarious in person. My wife was driving her home one night and Pema had her in stitches talking about her acid trips way back when.

:hi: from NS!

29. I do hope she's ok...
My partner (did I actually call him my boyfriend earlier? Gadzooks!)was sooo happy to read your response! He was very pleased indeed to find out she's such a great lady in person, and so funny; but concerned when he read about her health. Here's hoping the CAL climate does wonders for her health.

She is one amazing lady!

And a BIG :hi: from Edmonton!

26. Bush looks embarrassed
And for good reason. Soon he is going to realize that his only friends in the world are the red staters -- and only so long as he delivers on tax cuts, etc. And it's getting tougher and tougher for him to deliver. Evil is its own punishment.

32. One of Dub's famous statements...
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 12:49 AM by ailsagirl
Apparently he told Canadian reporters something to the effect that he's "the kind of fella who does what he thinks is right. And I'm gonna continue to."

And I'm thinking how the world is in shambles. Does he have "gross cognitive dissonance" as well as his followers??
