WA Democrats need $$$ FAST for Governor recount
Christine Gregoire is only 42 votes away from becoming Washington's next governor but needs to raise $750,000 by Thursday (12/2) for a statewide hand recount. Rossi has threatened to unleash Bush team lawyers on every county... Donate here (please!):

5. Yeah and the effing DNC doesn't want to give it to her...
:grr:

This pisses me off so much that as a large contributor to both the DNC and Kerry campaign, they will not see any more money from me this next year or two or three or four if they keep this up...

Meanwhile, I'm going to go to her website and contribute to her...

Folks, even if you contribute $5.00 tonite, you can help her raise the money and make it happen....

9. Then the DNC needs to wire the cash
The hundreds I spent on Kerry and the DNC had better get busy or they'll never see another dime from my pocket. Who do they think they are sitting on my money while there is WORK TO BE DONE!

7. Kerry just formed a new fund
for his 2008 Senate run...I believe his left over money was deposited there. He had already given the DNC money.

3. Why does everyone need money.
Plenty of wealthy Democrats out there not to mention the Party itself.

The Party shoudl have enough money to fund these recounts.

6. Why would we want a statewide recount exactly?
Wouldn't we be better off paying for and recounting King county and any other heavily democratic counties only?

I mean, we want to find Democratic votes right? Let the GOP pay to recount their own counties if they so desire.

Where am I going wrong here?

We should easily be able to find 42 votes in Seattle. There must be hundreds where a hand recount will show voter intent for Kerry. Why should we pay to recount GOP precincts which might nullify any votes we find in Democratic friendly areas?

Why can't the DNC kick in some cash? How about Kerry? He has several millions left over.

12. Send DFA a message asking for help
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/contactus.php

If the DNC isn't willing to help then maybe DFA might. Ask them to raise the bat.

15. Is there some other venue to use
after the way they've handled themselves, I can't really bring myself to donate there, but I do want to donate to this cause. I don't think I can compromise this one - it's kind of like a line in the sand.

17. Yes, DFA
Do you know what is happening in Washington State? In their closest election eveer, an initial recount done by machines turned up thousands of misplaced ballots that had not been counted--the difference in ballots counted so far is just 42 votes out of 2.8 million cast in the race for governor.

We need to keep counting.

We have a little over 24 hours to request a hand count that will ensure that every vote is protected. But the mandatory state fe for the counting could exceed $1 million. The state party and Democratic candidate Christine Gregoire don't have the money after months of unprecedented get-out-the-vote efforts.

Will you help them pay the fee to protect every vote?

http://www.wa-democrats.org/contribute

Our priority has been clear from the beginning: We need an electoral system that respects the sanctity of every vote. Befoe the election we blew the whistle on electronic voting machines and raised hell when Republicans tried to intimidate and silence people in poor or heavily minority neighborhoods.

Since November 2nd, we have worked to get every vote the respect and protection worthy of our democracy--even if those votes will not change the outcome. We owe it to everyone who stood in line for hours, putting aside their jobs and families to be a part of our political process.

The action in Washington State isn't the only thing happening tonight. At 7pm people in your neighborhood will get together and make a plan to build a new Democratic party. Will you join us?

18. Write a letter to the editor too
Gregoire has a mail blaster on her site.

This broad support for one final hand count comes from the fact that so many problems have been reported with the machine count (in fact, if the machines hadn't made so many mistakes the first time, we'd be in a hand count right now.) As one newspaper noted, "Considering all the irregularities associated with the election, 42 votes are not enough to settle this yet."

The Democratic Party is now working to raise the $750,000 necessary to move forward.

It may take a little longer, but it's worth three more weeks to have four years of certainty.

Counting every vote is not only the right thing to do, it will enable the next Governor to unite us effectively and move our state in the right direction.

If you agree with me, make your views known. Take a few minutes to write a letter to your local paper. It's very easy to do this from our website by clicking here:
