The DNC wants money - again! - from me

I just received a DNC email asking for money to help pay for the WA Governor's recount.

I deleted it - and I will do the same for the next one. And the next one. And the one after that.

The sheer gall of these folks is astounding - they need 750K for the recount, and they can't pony that up?

Plus, to have Gregoire (the Dem candidate) writing to me under the DNC banner is just too much.

I'm very sorry, DNC - you showed your hand in this years race, and it's a loser.

You'll receive nary a dime from me.

If there is a way to help in WA without sending $ to the DNC (which in my mind just reinforces their belief that they are "the way") I'll help, but NOT through the DNC (or the DLC) anymore.

2. Good for you!!!
Folks, save your money in 2006 and 2008. Instead of sending in your $25 or $50 to the latest candidate, make an effort to get you and three loved ones to the polls.

They are tapping into our sense of helplessness and giving us a false sense of empowerment with all this donation crap. After all that wasted money in 2003/2004, the election was simply a replay of 2000. Your money made no difference.

However, if you have more monwy thant god, then by all means, donate away.

I offered them my support and hard work, all they keep asking for is money. It makes me mad.

4. I got a form thank-you letter from Kerry
yesterday, and while he didn't ask for money in the letter, they thoughtfully included a return envelope for any donations I might feel like ponying up. The sight of that envelope SERIOUSLY pissed me off.

8. For the 500th Time the Money has been spent:
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 11:03 AM by mdguss
This is total crap being fed to you by Republicans and some disgruntled Democrats.

Kerry cut a check for 30 million dollars three weeks before the election. The money was in his primary account. By federal law he could not spend that money in the general election. The money was left over because he raised a large amount immediately before accepting the nomination. Given the way the system works, there was bound to be a large surplus in Kerry's account. If Kerry had cut the check any earlier we would've been treated to endless storylines about how, "Kerry is violating the spirit of campaign finance laws." The check was cut the day after the last pre-election disclosure report was filed (3 weeks before the election).

Thirty Million Dollars went to the DNC in the middle of October. They spent it in an effort to help the many Democrats who were running for office. Many Democratic candidates appreciated it; and many Democrats won because of it.

Kerry kept 15 million in his account in case there was a full-fledged recount (that, for a variety of valid reasons, really didn't happen), and the money is still there in case there are any outstanding bills left over from the primary. Kerry has said as soon as he's sure that he has no bills left over, the rest will go to the party and to support Democratic candidates running in 2005 and 2006.

This is total shit being fed to you by Republicans who want to stop the wave of small donations that really helped the Democrats this time. They're being aided by a few disgruntled Democrats that would like--for their own selfish reasons--to embarass John Kerry. Be gullible if you want to be, that's your loss.

9. I Think He Is
but am not absolutely sure. It's been said it is in his war chest for 2008. Nice work, if you can get it! A millionaire collects a lot of hard worked for cash from folks and is not held accountable for the remainder! If anyone has info contrary to this I would make me feel better to hear it.

10. For the 501st time, Kerry already gave 30 million to the DNC.

The money has been transfered and as soon as some outstanding bills clear, the rest will be transfered too. This is crap being fed to you by the Republicans with the aid of some of disgruntled Democrats.

11. Additional Info

<<<snip>>>

“Party leaders, including some of Kerry's top campaign aides, said this week they were surprised and angry to learn that he had more than $15 million in accounts from the Democratic primaries. They demanded to know why the money wasn't spent to help Kerry defeat President Bush or to aid congressional candidates. Cont…

There were no easy answers to those questions, officials close to Kerry acknowledged Thursday, but they sought to assure Democrats in a series of telephone calls that the four-term Massachusetts senator was sharing his political wealth. Cont…

They argued that he donated $40.5 million to Democratic causes in 2004, including $3 million each to the party's House and Senate campaign committees. More than $32 million went to the Democratic National Committee, including $9 million targeted to state parties. cont…”

<<<snip>>>
“According to the two officials familiar with Kerry's account:

— He has $16 million left from the primaries.

— Some $4 million to $5 million of that will be transferred to a legal and compliance fund to help pay for the costs of fighting or resolving 16 Federal Election Commission complaints pending against Kerry. That legal fund already has $8 million.

— Once the transfer is made and all primary season bills are paid, Kerry will have just shy of $10 million in his primary campaign account.

The rest of the money could be used to mount a bid for the presidency in 2008, but the advisers said that had nothing to do with saving the money”

So sorry DNC, but I gave when I couldn't afford it in the election.
Use the money the Kerry campaign gave you.
