Schumer giving signs he'll vote to support Gonzalez
because Gonzalez says he'll recuse himself from Plame investigation. :eyes:

Schumer probably won't be swayed on the Gonzalez's torture memos, because Schumer seems to think torture might be justified in some circumstances. :eyes:

Not only that, but Schumer will (justifiably, perhaps) assume NY has given a mandate to keep doing what he's been doing, which is talking left and acting right. :eyes:

2. On Gonzalez, or generally?
I don't support Schumer on Gonzalez, on torture, or on IWR. He's done okay keeping ultrarightists off the SC. He hasn't done enough to shame the GOP into handing over the $ those fuckers promised NY.

4. He Was Great During the ESTRADA Thing
And at the beginning of Shrub's reign, he sounded an absolute clarion, saying that nominees who were technically qualified COULD be opposed on the basis of IDEOLOGY. It was electrifying to hear that at that particular time. LEAHY has also rolled on GONZALEZ. The reality is that the GONZALEZ jerk can't be stopped, and, as many have posted in several threads, "We have to save our bullets for other fights". That said, we can still put up an intense questioning at the hearings so that the record on what we will be getting is absolutely clear.

5. Bush has the right to pick his own cabinet
Unless the guy is a criminal or retard, the confirmation should happen, and if he does actually promise to recuse himself from the Plame investigation. I might not like his stand on torture or other issues, but Bush has the right to pick him to be AG.

Dems have to pick their battles. Save the big fight for judicial nominees.

No, for * to do the right thing he'd RESIGN.

I'm angry with these pink tutu gutless wonder Democrats who do not fight for their constituency.

Pick our battles?!? No, we're (the Democratic Party in congress) backed into a corner and should pull out all the stops ... endless speeches about the right wing radical republicans who have take over the USA congress.

It's beyond time for the present "pansy brigade" to grow a spine because if they do NOT, there will be NOTHING recognizably democratic in the USA.

8. But Schumer and Dems and AMERICANS have the right
to have Gonzalez's shameless cowardice on torture aired and analyzed.

7. Torture might be justified as long as you are torturing
Arabs.... that's what he really means more than likely. Don't expect any politician from NYS to ever believe in anything but the AIPAC line.
