I'm guilty. On Nov. 3rd, I wasn't real sure I wanted to be American anymore. But I've got new optimism now and a mantra (a Phil Ochs quote) to go with it:
"I believe there is still something inherent in the fabric of America worth saving, and that the fortunes of the entire world may well ride on the ability of young Americans to face the responsibilities of an old America gone mad."
America gone mad indeed. I'm 24, and I suspect a large part of the responsibility to save the US will fall on my generation. And I'm ready for it.

I didn't mean it was older Americans' fault, nor do I think Ochs meant that. But "Old America," what America used to stand for, has truly gone insane.
Younger Americans were the only age demographic that a majority of voted for Kerry. Now we need those same people to go beyond voting. And yes, we need EVERYONE to work together.
