Bernard Kerik is an idiot
the man is a total fool. he doesn't understand anything.

i saw some of his "debate" on CNN with Wes Clark. i didn't expect him to beat Clark. but the man just totally sucked. he had no idea what was going on. i felt embarrassed for him.

of course the only reason he got the job is because he is a Bush loyalist who wont question anything. not that he could as he has no understanding of anything.

the only reason he is famous is because of 9/11 and even then he did nothing just as Rudy Giuliani did nothing. both have profited off of it at the expense of victims and others.

1. I saw that too
He didn't know anything about the issues they raised, it was obvious he was a "deer in the headlights".

I don't know what kind of "police boss" he is, but he was in charge of training the Iraqi police......I don't think that went too well.

3. Giuliani did NOT do nothing.
Were you here? Giuliani was the man holding us together, telling us what was happening, what WE needed to do.

Whatever he was before, whatever he's been since, on the day he was one of us, part of it, and he was our leader. Which Bush will NEVER forgive. Which is why Kerik got the job, to give Bush a 9/11 veneer, but never Giuliani.

and if you're going to defend that man for anything after his speech at the RNC, or any of his actions during the campaign and prior, you're a fool.

23. Guiliani on 9/11...
As of right now I hate the man, but on 9/11 he was holding press conferences and letting us know what the hell was going on while Bush took his 747 on a tour of the Midwest. I am happy that Guiliani did that, but I am absolutely disgusted by what he did during this election cycle.

6. anyone could have done that, it should have been the President
but Bush got scared and went into hiding. since Giuliani was mayor he used to the occasion to promote himself.

Rudy quickly used that fame to profit for himself . he is a total whore who cares nothing about others and only about what he has to gain himself.

8. Rudy was holding us together? Spare me.
And he wiped out any good will I had toward him with his war profiteering (along with Kerik) in Iraq.

are part of the problem.

This country was never in danger of falling apart or collapsing or anything close to it. Let's have a little perspective here. We lost 3,000 as a result of 9/11. That's just about an average weekend for those who live in Iraq.

4. The "real" reason Kerik got nominated:
" . . . and I grabbed the sleeve of the police commissioner and I said, "Bernie, thank God that George Bush is president!!" and Bernie wisely nodded and said, "Yes, dear."

Just enough to get through reading a speech written by the team behind the scenes.

Wait -- I take that back. Not even that much intellect.

18. true, it will be interesting to see how he does
will he hold news conferences ? because i can't see him being able to handle it. there are types like Ashcroft, Porter Goss and others in the administration who obviously have a bad agenda, but they are still intelligent and know what they are doing.

Kerik is just a moron.

13. Started out as a bodyguard for giuliani
What is the likelihood that kerik couldn't get into the police department and he had to settle for bodyguard.

I wonder how many strings were pulled so kerik could get into the police department?

19. He should fit in nicely
Today's article in Slate is pretty damning

http://slate.msn.com/id/2110638/

People can read it themselves if they'd like, but I was shocked by this section:

"Members of Iraq's interim governing council expressed loud dismay that Kerik spent $1.2 billion to train 35,000 Iraqi police in Jordan. More annoying still was his decision to buy from Jordan 20,000 Kalashnikov rifles, 50,000 revolvers, and 10 million rounds of ammunition, when he could have rounded up all those weapons far more cheaply—if not for free—from the disbanded Iraqi army."

21. Was that in the article?
That's news to me -- thogh not surprising. This is also great:

"Specifically, Kerik started his rise to power as a veteran street cop tasked to be Giuliani's driver and bodyguard during the 1993 mayoral election."

Talk about somebody not knowing anything! Did you ever listen to him?

I don't know anything about Kerik, but from what I've read on DU, he at least seems to have street smarts, and I don't see anything wrong with that!

Who did you expect shrub to nominate? I think we all should give the guy a chance before making the judgement that he's an idiot and is bad for the job.
