2. Yes, and as a person who lives "behind the lines" = among right wingers
I would advise Al to please "give it up." Even when you present FACTS to even highly intelligent Republicans they will find a way to "spin it" into a right wing talking point.

Remember, Republicans idolize Authority Figures and power. As long as it swaggers with strength, it's beautiful. Why do you think they call Democrats sissy's? Anything the least bit gentle or feminine is reviled.

It's not worth talking politics with right wingers. If they're your family and love them AS THEY ARE. Mark Luther's MOM is absolutely right - no talk of politics during reunions. That's the only way to live in peace with republicans.

7. You're right, of course
But I'm not sure the object is to convince Luther. That would be nice, of course. But I think the object is to point out to a large audience of listeners exactly how dishonest RL is and how deluded his listeners are.

9. Yes, but the real super duper smart right wingers can

take any fact given to them by a Democrat and effectively slant related information to make night=day, up=down, etc. The members of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) are highly intelligent. They are masters of propaganda.

Our only hope to counterbalance is to put forth MORE equally intelligent left wing spin-meister's like Carville and Begala style of debate. Otherwise we are truly screwed. :(

10. That Is My Feeling Also. The Intent Is To Demonstrate To Reich-Wingers
how disingenuous their positions are. Kind of like the first time as a kid you heard your own voice on a recording.

The thing people have to remember is that Franken is not preaching to the choir. He is trying to get reality out in the open, presented in a way that the weakly committed reich winger may be willing to listen in.

11. There's no such thing as a "weakly committed" right winger ...
But yes, I will meet you half way and contend that Al is trying to reach the moderates. Once you admire authority figures, it's hard to win somebody back with mere logic.

3. Al did good
Luther is beginning to just say that Rush was lying...again. Al's exposure of O'Lielly was also good...just before the Rush segment.

5. Yeah, it's quite an interesting conversation these 2 guys are having.
A microcosm of the national dialogue, I think. Luther sounds like an intelligent and reasonable guy....he readily admits, time and again, that Rush lied, mispoke, doesn't have his facts right, etc.

So when will Luther decide that Rush is the propagandist and liar that helps to enable Bush? I really don't get how someone can agree with the overwhelming body of evidence that Rush is a liar and still claim to be a Rush dittohead. So typical of the BRushbots.....

12. I agree, Ducks-in-a-Row.
Time to drop the skit. Al's contention that one can reason with Rethugs is misguided. It is painful to listen to it.
