Isn't it obvious that the DLC is NOT a progressive organization?
We've got a real problem here folks...the DLC doesn't represent Millions and Millions of Democrats anymore..To my view, there is very little difference between them and the Repugs. It's a matter of degrees. What do wo do about it?

1. I don't mind if they call themselves 'centrists,'
but they have to stop calling themselves 'progressives.' They just aren't.

2. Not Appease, but not Ignore
The party of progressive populists would be a good idea (ex: Clinton). But becoming socially conservative is not.

3. I think this group is the reason that we stand back and let them (repugs)
steal election after election. If they like the repugs agenda so much why not become a repug.

4. The policy of chasing the radical right in the GOP
in the hope of becoming conservative enough to attract GOP moderates is clearly not working. DLC candidates at the national level can't seem to get elected for love or money. They certainly can't get elected on policy.

Perhaps it's time to dump those old ladies in 3 piece suits collectively known as the DLC and have the party offer an alternative.

I'm talking about somebody who speaks the language of the working class and who puts working class concerns back on the table. These would include (but not be limited to) economic fairness, fairness in taxation, security in retirement, universal health insurance, and a return to a morality based upon something besides the sex lives of other people.

Working people haven't had a Democrat to vote FOR in a very long time. Clinton got in on wit and charisma. "Business as usual" has been a failure since then. The only party offering the average working slob anything is the GOP, who offer bait and switch tax cuts and a return to a golden era that never was.

Whatever happens, the party will have to undergo a massive shift in policy if they ever expect to get anyone elected above the local level. One shift will have to include taking voting machine tampering seriously. Going on as they are will result in a further marginalized and ineffective party.

5. We aren't going to out center the repugs
because too many centrists in this country are just lazy status quoists. The repugs are also too good at lying every election cycle and then governing like rabid prairie dogs who spend most all their time underground undermining the lands surface but sometimes come to the surface to give a big toothed smile and go squeak squeak squeak. Aren't they cute - lets just leave them alone for another 2 or 4 years.
