Anti-DLC experiment --------Part 3
We're already boycotting red companies. Let's also boycott the corporations that donate to Democratic candidates. That would be easily found here Thanks to Jack Dawson for providing the link in his post yesterday.

1. Yeah, let's start with Apple!
No let's NOT.

We were continually pummelled by the nuance-impaired this election...fuck we always are. Let's not join them.

3. What don't we just boycott the wealth-concentrating, anti-worker, anti-
competition businesses?

You want airlines to work better? Fly Southwest and Jet Blue. You want the software industry to work better and allow people to build up more wealth? Buy something other than Microsoft OS. You want Haiti not to be a sweat shop haven? Buy American Apparel. You want to decentralize the power of the telecoms? Get Netflix if you really need to see movies, and go to independent theaters. You want big banks to get less money, and your own communities to get more money? Use a credit union, and don't use your credit card -- especially when you shop in stores owned by people in your community, and don't go into debt.

There are lots of way to use your economic power to your advantage rather that use it to diminish you political power and increase someone elses.

And some of those Democratic donors (and even some of the Republican ones) might be part of the solution, not the problem.

5. I always use cash in local boutiques so they don't have to pay the fee
or I'll spend a lot of dough buy a lot of stuff and use my card.

personally I'm not for or against the DLC. I think we have bigger issues than to do an exercism right now.

11. Now YOU have the list!

It's certainly making the rounds.

Now, assuming that the growing list is not just an attempt to intimidate those who would seek to further the Progressive Movement by suggesting that we eliminate all those people from the party and, oh I don't know, allow by default Republicans to take their places because "we must remove the melanoma by decapitation", I am sure that you can present compelling reasons for each name to justify their removal.

Surely the list was presented in ernest. I look forward to your detailed justifications for the removal of each one.

16. I want them to see who all they have to purge...
that is why I don't get the purge movement. If we eleminate the DLC do we have to ask for loyalty oaths? Then what's next...'The List'

Any Dem candidate that ever accepted or will accept corporate dollars is no longer a DEM and is automatically a rethuglican.

Someone explain this whole purge thing and why now when we've got so much more important crap to lose?

when you say you want to get rid of the DLC, or you hate the DLC then you are talking about the people in that list.

They have signed on and have allowed their names to be publicly placed on the DLC website.

8. Yes, decapitation is the only way.
As you see it the only treatment is to allow the melanoma to spread, thus killing you, or decapitation, thus killin you.

Talk about nuance impaired.

10. No, you're incorrect. You remove the melanoma. The original poster
recommended boycotting all Democratic supporters to get rid of the DLC. Perhaps you missed the nuance.

13. I see many posts that suggest....
...we have no hope of returning the core of our party to it's Progressive roots. There is no nuance in the politics of fear.

But you are incorrect that I missed the nuance. What I did was miss the post order. All of the sudden I was responding to you in this thread thinking about a different thread. I do that sometimes. Web forum dyslexia. So, my response to you above is invalid, but stupid enough to warrant it's retention from standpoint of the goofyness factor. See, this is why I don't try to lead movements.

7. May I sugest that we work to redirect the money streams?
As the center-right candidates come up for reelection, we must bring forth Progressive alternatives and work for them. We must also find the ways to convince the donators that these candidates have a better plan for the future of our country. By 2006, things will be very ugly economically, and everyone will be hurting. That will make for a convenient opportunity to contrast the failed economic policies of the center-right, the right, and what calls itself "conservative" with a more human, equitable alternative. There will be a lot of service and retail businesses that will suffer badly as we will suffer. We need to bring them on. Start with the companies and industries that are closer to our personal economies. We can't do a lot about corrupt corporate banking, energy, war machine and media conglomerates, but when it comes to food, clothing, hardware, private banking, transportation and electronics, we have tremendous control.

14. And what happens....
if the economy is chugging along in 2006??? Never plan on things that far ahead. Hell, Bush may have a scheme to bail out of iraq by then. You need to be positive and develop both positions and candidates for the future, not count on winning because the other guy failed.
