My Thoughts on the DLC...
In the Movie 1776 John Adams confronts John Dickinson of Pennsylvania about his unwillingness to be more aggressive in the drive for Independence. John Adams (played by William Daniels)
"Oh, you cool considerate men. You stay to the back of every issue so that if we go under you'll remain afloat."

Dickinson replies, "Are you calling me a coward?"

Adams, "Yes, COWARD!"

Right now I see the DLC as the John Dickinson's of our party and the progressives as the John Adams'.

1. Cowardness
Generally I side with the cowards, they are smart and considerate. But there are times and places when cowardness cannot be afforded. I think US 2005-> is such a time and place, but easy for me to say, coward from Europe. :)

2. More thoughts
Most American countries have been suffering from the same corrupt two-party system in support of the elites as US. The left didn't win in Venezuela or Brazil working through old establishment parties but by getting rid of delutions and rejecting the whole corrupt establishment, getting revolutionary and organized and building power from the bottom, activating and educating the poor and working people.

Why should US be different from Venezuela and Brazil? Left can't win anything through Democratic "alternative" to support establishment of cleptocracy.
