8. He hasn't yet
From what i gathered on the 10 o'clock news was that Tauzin wasn't going to concede until after they open the machines. Tauzin said he called Melancon and congratulated him on a good race. However, it is pretty much a done deal that he lost.

6. Go on Charlie! But don't let Blanco take credit
Shows what we can do when we all pull together. I saw on our TV that Blanco congratulated him. .... maybe if we would have all pulled together on ALL the races we would have more than 2 seats in Congress. Why didn't she go out campaigning for the local folks until the run-offs? If she was willing to go out for Kerry, she could have worked with our other Statewides to unite the party in the other races?

9. Does anyone know if Clinton did a recorded message?
He did it for some others - including Chris John who was running for US Senate.

11. Thank God
Billy Tauzin would have been an absolute embarrassment. He's easily the dumbest person I've ever seen in a local race and we've had some incredible idiots run down here.

15. Not to put a damper on the good news....
But we lost CD-7 in SW Louisiana. The seat was a long-time Democratic district (albeit conservative). Chris John and John Breaux held it in the past.

17. From all reports I've seen, that race just had 2 Republicans in it
of course I would have rathered Mount won but I didn't see anything about her that separated her from her republican opponent. And I thought John Breaux was conservative!

18. You will never get anything more than a conservative Democrat...
...elected in that part of Louisiana, so I would have been THRILLED to see Mount win. The future is too important to make your distinction (IMO).

19. DCCC didn't help much
I hear that they came down here looking for a 'volunteer' workforce with some pitiful amount of money for canvassing. They put people on street corners, which only gets the Republican vote out. I don't think that they had so many local people. You can't win that seat without people like Chris John's team, who know the people there - and how to win. Don't think that anyone went over from Chris' congressional staff or his campaign staff in the run-off. Don't know if they were even asked...... maybe they didn't want to pay a staff either. Of course, Willie Mount is a republican, but she could have done it, if she would have had the team....... and support from DC

21. Being an ex-pat Louisianan (in Dallas), it is a shame
IMO, that Chris John just didn't try to keep his seat, and let Kennedy run for the Senate.
