2004 election and a panel on the future of the Democratic party is getting ready to start.
They discussed the bloggers and a bunch of issues.
One of the Reporters (from USA Today) mentioned how all the Dem's started sending e-mails after the first debate because some website (hmmm) had posted all of the e-mail addresses of all the reporters. They didn't appreciate it much and just started deleting them.
The Kerry rep (can't remember his name, he is from Texas, around 33 years old) said the reporters were giving him a hard time and he didn't find it particularly helpful.
They talked about all the issues started on blogs or web sites - Drudge intern crap, the 60 minutes memo stuff, the Draft, the thing in Bush's back during the debates, etc.

1. I missed it. What's your conclusion about what you saw? Was their a |

bias against "Internet Activism?" Who ran the panel? Was it a RW Think Tank that funded it? Could you give a little more info? Thanks for what you said, though.

is hosting the panel on the future of the Dem Party which has Donna Brazil, Brad Carson, Jim Jordon, and Steve Jarding).
The panelists were David Allen, WP, reporters from USA Today and CBS News and spokesman from both the Kerry and Bush campaigns.
The discussion on the Drudge intern story was interesting because they talked about how the news was out there - all day on Rush and Hannity, British papers had stories stating the womens name, etc. and the MSM didn't know how to deal with it. No one (correctly) wanted to stake their reputations on a Drudge story (of course, it all ended up being BS). Do they report it and say there was no evidence so the people that only read the first paragraph and didn't know about it before may now believe it. Do they ignore the reality that it is a big story being discussed around all the water-coolers?
The Bush spokesman did say how the BC Campaign knew were Kerry was going to be in the next 3 days (because of the entourage, etc.) and they had all the local Repug officials go on talk radio and do interviews with the papers, etc. so they always got their message out first.
Those are a few of the tidbits I can remember. If I think of anything else interesting, I'll post more.

the Bushies admit to "tracking Kerry," but then it's all in "how clever they are" right...
I'll look for this one on the C-Span Website. It sounds worth a watch!

3. Steve Jarding, Dem strategist spoke about the Mark Warner campaign |
|
for Virginia (the next panel). He said Warner doesn't do Nascar and doesn't hunt but the VA "experts" told his campaign that they can not win without rural Virginia. According to Jarding, Warner said he wanted to represent those people also so they went after them - don't give up on anyone.
Jarding is arguing for giving the Dem money to the states and local races for the grassroots. We need to pursue all the states. We can't right off anyone. Remember, Brad Carson, OK Senate Candidate, is on this panel also.
Brazile mentioned how she thought Warner's campaign would be the blueprint the Dem party would follow after he won but the party went back to their old ways in 2002 and got beat. However, she worked for Mary Landreiu (sp) and they fought the Warner style campaign and didn't cede anywhere in the state. Mary won, of course.

4. OMG, Steve Jarding just had an awesome rant about the BS that the |

Repugs are for family values. I will have to try to find the transcript or video of it on C-span. It was near the very end of the panel on the Democratic party's future.
I saw him on Hardball a long time ago and thought he was extremely effective as a southerner at slicing and dicing the Repukes talking points and demonstrating Dem moral values. Get that man in the Dem War Room. He is great.
If he works for Warner in 2008, I bet he will be the Carville of that election.
