|
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 10:05 PM by cthrumatrix
The press and "new voters" did affect the outcome.

What the hell are you talking about? I was under the assumption that Rove was cheering for Dean from the start.

5. So much for his "machine", he got creamed in Iowa. |
|
Dean is severely wounded IMO. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if he came in a strong 2nd or whatever, but Dean got demolished.

27. If Rove's strategy was to "slow" Dean... |
|
...then it has failed miserably.
Because unless Dean wins New Hampshire, he is finished.

If Karl had his dream, Al Sharpton would be the nominee.
But I do think that Karl Rove would be quite confident about beating Howard Dean. The one he is terrified of is General Clark.
BTW, Michael Moore has endorsed Clark. That must mean he is a real democrat ;-)

22. Michael Moore........ |
|
was a Nader supporter in 2000. He was one of the people that enabled Bush to steal the election. If I were Clark, I wouldn't WANT Moore's endorsement. Michael Moore isn't the messiah everyone thinks he is. To other than ultra left wingers he's considered a self promoting, pompous ass.

21. Karl Rove and the Media did not defeat |
|
Howard Dean in Iowa tonight.
The previously "undecided" voter did.
Throughout the entire campaign, there has been an "undecided" voter group in most all of the polls of 17% to 24%, depending on the poll. Combined results of the 2004 Democratic Presidential Campaign polls, as recorded at pollingreport.com, reflect this fact.
Those who previously registered in the "undecided" or "don't know" column are now weighing in. This number is big enough to change the landscape of the entire race; and at least in Iowa, it has.
The previously "undecided" apparently decided on either Kerry or Edwards tonight. In New Hampshire, previously "undecided" could create a totally different outcome.

18. No, THIS wasn't Rove, Gephardt's |
|
talk about Howard Dean and Medicare, etc stuck a bit. ON CSpan 2 - the Adair caucus, one of the people said Dean cut Medicare and Social Security. Dean needs to stress his senior drug program, and other healthcare programs.
Ironically, Gephardt ends up biting the bullet - MSNBC is predicting this is the end of Gephardt's career. Ouch. Talk about richochet.

|
I suspect voter registration was number one, then caucus cross overs, that caused the outcome.

33. Clark lobbied for Republican firms and worked for a largely Republican |
|
military.
Rest assured that Rove has no reason to want to derail Clark's candidacy at this time.
But note that the RW hits against Dean just keep coming -- even though he isn't even the front-runner anymore and he's supposedly unelectable.
Why?
