"SORRY YOUNG AMERICA". great critique of our "OLD and WISE". |

It's a shame this general attitude isn't more widespread. I'm 31 and I consider myslef in this group. This quote says it best: "It's as if the grown folks went on a shopping spree with credit cards they conveniently put in the kids' names." read the rest here: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/opinion/sfl-82forum06dec06,0,447351.story?coll=sfla-news-opinion

The cohort that most strongly supports Bush is that 34-49 cohort, ignorant of all the economic history of people just 10 years older than they are, and closer to you in age than they are to me.
It's not old people spending young folks' money. It's a small bunch of rich people who are looting us all, robbing old folks of their future while they rob the young of their earning ability.
Remember, even that ignorant cohort who support Bush because they got a few crumbs in tax cuts aren't seeing the real benefit of all this looting. Put the focus where it really belongs, on the thieves.

I actually read up on that looting all the time. "Perfectly Legal" by David Cay Johnston was a great book on the taxes.
Part of the point he brings up that "well to do working people" subsidize the super rich with the heaviest taxes. I agree.
The Irony is that many of these working people in the $75k-150k wage range believe that are part of "the rich" and they are not.
I make over 100k a year and I know where to put my anger but many of these folks don't. they go further and hurt the incoming generation...just as the 50-65 group let 12 years of reagan-bush really accelerate the wealth and tax gap we see today.
Though Clinton was no angel, his policies weren't as damaging as those of the 12 years before he took over. Bush II is picking up where his Dad left off and with 8 years' interest!
