SR 1878 (Missouri Bill) urges limits (Separation of Church & State?)...
Any Missouri DUers have information on this Missouri bill which appears to be an attempt to urge limitations to the federal government in acknowledgement of "God" by the states? Sounds like it may be an attempt to limit the federal government in religious matters involvement and/or urging to support the "Separation of Church & State"... anyone have any knowledge on this one or status of such bill?

1. You have it back-wards.
This is an attempt to override the separation of Church and State. They are saying that the states have the right to ignore the Federal restrictions. They are trying to make it possible to meld state government with the religious right. Then they could start legislating by religious fiat.

Thanks, I just happened on this in some of my google searches. So, it is really they do not want to abide by the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights etc. versus them wanting the states to decide religious matters w/o government involvement. That's why I had the "Separation of Church & State? (qustions mark)... not sure if the intent was to amend the constitution for religious right purposes or urging separation. Since the founding documents do not mandate anything to do per-se with the word "God" I was confused and curious about their intent in this bill.

I see your point now. I found it confusing and was uncertain their intent. Looks as though the bill has had no activity since May 2004.

Another extememe right attempt to destroy the founding documents of our country then -- pushing for a constitutional amendment no doubt, huh?

It's a bill we should keep an eye out for then!

SHUFFNEW... "SUPPORT THE U.S. CONSTITUTION, BILL OF RIGHTS & FOUNDING DOCUMENTS!!!"
