Sen. Chafee says Iraq much "worse" than he thought.. |
|
In an interview on MSNBC, he said he had visited about a year ago and thought it was going better than he had imagined. Today, in his inerview, he said it was much worse than he thought. What impact will his comments have, if any?

GOP Senators with far more influence that Chaffee have said similar things (Lugar, McCain, Hagel), but with little or no impact on actual Bush administration actions.

the world could be on fire and if Bush told the "people" that everything is ok they would perish praising their savior, Bush

7. Impact on various groups: |
|
Sen. Chafee's statement on:
a) Bush administration: none. They already know it's Dante's Inferno. It doesn't bother them a bit.
b) Pentagon: none. He doesn't need to tell them what they already know. They, unlike Bush are sweating because they are losing men and this destructive adventure is now costing 5.8 billion per month.
c)The Senate & Congress: none. They are the ones who saw the torture photos from Abu Ghraib. They if anyone know the score. They're sweating a little more because they if anyone are aware of the cost which cannot continue forever. Also, they know we are becoming more vulnerable every day to attacks from REAL enemies.
d) The Press: yawn. Stretch.
e) The Public: yet another log on the fire of the facts which are burning. There is a vague, undefined tension in the air. We all know our country tortures people, you can't get away from it. As we stand up at the baseball game and pledge of allegiance, the words "with liberty and justice for all" chokes in our throat. We think about it. Too ugly. Turn away.

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, will register with Bush and co. They don't let logic or facts get in the way of their master plan. These people live in an alternate universe and the press is just there to echo their sentiments. Sorry about the edits, my spelling sucks today.
