Ok, say Dean isn't the DNC chair
Who should be?
Who would put forth the message that we as a party are moving forward? Who could get out new voters in red/swing states? Who will stay true to core progressive values?

Seriously, who will? Any ideas? I'd suggest that we don't go with a WASP male, the democratic party needs to be diverse and not just in rhetoric.

19. Her tenure with Gore was lousy
Her statements during this election were lousy, and her statements post-election have been particularly prone to sliding knives between our shoulder blades. I don't trust, like, or respect her. I can dig up some links if I have to.

I think Donna speaks truth to power...she's certainly not a kiss ass, anyway.

2. Carol Mosely-Braun was, by far, the most qualified person to be president.
Alas, America does not deserve someone like her.

9. Amen
If Dean doesn't get a shot at giving this party some backbone it really will be more of the same old same old.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

I wish I could remember the guy's name--Rosenberg? There is someone who is in the DFA philosophy camp who has been mentioned in connection with this.

Can somebody help me out here?

12. Yeah okay
I know the guy you're talking about and yeah okay he'd be good too - I can't remember his name either  Actually if Howard wasn't the DNC chair it would make it easier to gear up for '08. I'll be ready to head for the snows of New Hampshire again. Man it is cooold there in January!

14. Thank you! That's a very interesting and thorough article, incap.
Although I don't agree with the Bai's rendition of Dean's primary campaign as a "classic liberal crusade, in the Jerry Brown mold, only with more money"...

16. I remember when it came out
It gave me some hope, in terms of what people were doing, for the future of the party. There seemed to be some really good ideas there, some of them already implemented (like MoveOn). Let's see how it all turns out. I don't know if Rosenberg is even interested in the position, though. There was a discussion about him on dailykos:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/6/112326/490

When the delegates were "polled", Dean came out in front for the Chair. It sounds like they are starting to stray off the reservation.

26. Even if it's Noam Chomsky or Michael Moore?
Not serious suggestions of course. But the idea that Dean is the only person in America who isn't either a DLC democrat or a republican is a somewhat blind approach to the process.
I do like Dean though.

11. Kweisi Mfume
Recently resigned head of the NAACP and my former congressman.

Of course, there are strong rumors that if Sen Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) steps down in 2006 (he will be 71) Mfume may run for the seat ... and I suspect he would stand a good chance of winning.
