Paul O'Neill on the Daily Show
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 06:40 AM by JI7
did anyone see Paul O'Neill on the daily show ? they were talking about how he told the truth about things and lost his job as a result. he said the media reported it in a way to make O'Neill look bad. as if he had done something bad by speaking against the administration even if it was the truth. like how dare he say something that is not part of the talking points .

they talked about tommy thompson's resignation a bit and how he seemed like he was more free after he left the job.

O'Neill was very appreciative with the job Jon does on the show. while Jon joked about how O'Neill should watch his "fake news" i think O'Neill knows that Jon gets it and does a good job of revealing what a joke the "news media" is and exposing their crappy reporting.

1. He was great.
I agree with him - the media really went out of their way to try and make him look like an idiot or a loose cannon while he was in office. Of course, it turns out that he was accurate in his assessments.

3. I saw it.
I wish we would have seen more of him during the campaign.

There's a good article about him here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/09/60minutes/main592330.shtml

4. O'Neil was great
He did say something to Jon about "keep doing what you're doing". He's a DS fan. He's an earnest guy, easy for me to respect him.

5. Ah, America ...
A country where "fake news" is the place to get more truth than the mass media can handle.

First there was the Iron Age. Now we live in the Ironic Age.

It was a great show and you could smell the refreshing sent of honesty, during the interview, cooking on the stove for a change. Deeelicious!

8. remember how the media jumped all over the allegation that he had broken
Federal law by revealing and or removing classified information.

Then, when the charges were unsubstantiated, barely a ripple from the 'real' media.

Talking points is all that matters to Nora, Cookie, Gwen, and Tweety.

9. Are you thinking of Sandy Berger?
Accused by the morons of stuffing top secret docs into his pants & socks...

That was such a huge pile of bullshit.

NO ONE but NO ONE is as stupid, as ignorant, as mentally deficient as a rightwingnut moron.

11. Yes but with O'Neill it was more of a one day thing
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 10:02 AM by LynnTheDem
And it wasn't anywhere near what the assholes did to Berger. The rightwingnuttery instead concentrated on their signature character assassination lies with O'Neill.

Which of course was also a total lie.

And how many US State News media actually reported that Berger had been entirely cleared of ALL charges?

ONE.

12. That's because with O'Neill it seemed silly on its face...
Still, you'll notice that the press whores scream and run and swear they've seen a wolf no matter how many times this scummy crew publicly lies...

14. Speaks truth, yes, but also very right-wing
Not many people are aware that when O'Neil was Treasury Secretary, he advocated doing away with Social Security and all taxes on corporations.

Story here.
