Troops Ask Rumsfeld Tough Questions
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 10:27 AM by Jack_Dawson
"Why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass to uparmor our vehicles?" Wilson asked. A big cheer arose from the approximately 2,300 soldiers in the cavernous hangar who assembled to see and hear the secretary of defense.

Why are our soldiers doing the work of white house and pentagon correspondents? Go Troops.

1. The headline should be "Rumsfeld to Army: Drop Dead!"
His answer is "even if tanks have armor, they blow up."

2. Unbelievable
Next he'll explain why they don't need helmets: "You're gonna die anyway. Helmet won't save you from an IED that rips your chest apart."

Maybe they don't need guns. "Guns won't save you when you're hit by an explosion."

Heck, maybe they don't need boots. "Lots of guys lose their legs anyway, boots don't save 'em."

3. Halliburton needed the money that should have gone for armor
You'd think these selfish people would be happy to go out and die needlessly for whatever reason the GOP is pretending we invaded this week, but no.....

4. Why do you have to dig through landfills for armor?
Because the military is being run by incompetents who campaigned in 2000 by accusing Clinton of stretching the military too thin, promising troops that "help is on the way," and ridiculing the notion of nation-building. And most in the military cheered them on and voted for them in droves.

Now, we have a government that has stretched the military too thin, can't be bothered to send any help and is neck-deep in nation-building.

Let's review this grotesque administration's record:
1. No planning for the occupation after the expected parade down rose-petal covered streets.
2. Blew off sound advice from military leaders that more troops would be needed.
3. Told the rest of the world to fuck off.
4. Told outrageous lies about WMDs.
5. Continued to tell outrageous lies about WMDs even after massive evidence to the contrary.
6. Lied about Iraqi involvement with al Qaeda.
7. Spent billions lining the pockets of Cheney and Halliburton on no-bid contracts.
8. Disbanded the Iraqi Army so that all its soldiers could take their weapons home and join the insurgency.
9. Installed a thug as interim president.
10. Created a whole new generation of terrorists.
11. Disgraced the military and America by allowing Abu Ghraib and attempting to justify torture and then blaming it on low-level soldiers.

Am I leaving anything out?

6. Probably because the crowd
was screened for loyalty and everyone was threatened with court martial if they didn't cheer loudly enough.

15. HAHA
I read this article too and loved it. How horrible it must have been for Rumsfled to be criticized and not be able to tell them to "shut up and be a good American". Anyone agree?

16. Had this situation been under Clinton, the media would be blaming him
instead of the Secretary of Defense. As always...Bush** gets a pass.
