1. Hoover?
The first ones that came to mind were Hoobert Heever and Calvin Coolidge, neither of which you listed.
I don't think of Wilson as conservative because of his campaigning for the League of Nations.

9. Oops
I didn't see that part of the question.
I couldn't figure out why he had listed those guys. Now it makes sense!!
Maybe it's time to get my eyes checked or read a little more slowly!!

2. Buchanan.
Or any other pre-civil-war dem.
Way back then we were the conservative southern asshats and the newly-founded Republican party were the liberals.

10. Teddy Roosevelt
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 02:30 PM by demwing
because--for some strange reason--he insisted on registering and running in parties other than the Democratic.

Its not fair that the Republicans get to claim both TR and Lincoln. Neither were representative of their party.

I mean for crying out loud, how could someone who helped end slavery, and who had the word "Honest" in his nickname be a Republican?

And how could someone who busted monopolies and so helped develop the National Park system be a Republican?

Interesting. The Republican historical anomolies are better suited to run the country than the DLC.

ON EDIT - My Bad. Roosevelt did't create the National Park System.
