Novak all he can handle. I just don't think he will bring many red-voters to the polls for the Democratic party. In fact, I think he'll drive them away or to the other side.

"Hey, ignorant Bush voters, haters of diplomacy, taxes, and common sense, please come vote for us."
Can we stop it with the hand-wringing already? Chances are we didn't lose the election, and even if we did, we didn't lose enough to morph into accomodating psuedo-Republicans.
Stop the madness.

His ideas? His knowledge of the Bible? Oh yeah, he's not as pale as their idol Falwell. Well guess what....they weren't coming over anyway so if they can't deal with it when Al speaks truth to them...so be it.

I also like Jesse Jackson...
But, realistically, neither appeal to swing voters because they are both seen as shit-stirrer-uppers or worse, publicity whores.
I disagree, but living in Alabama, I know the way the rank and file react to the mere mention of Sharpton or Jackson. They could hardly do worse if they were Hillary Clinton.

Ignoring the gay marriage issue is a duty to anyone who actually cares about their country.
Divisive wedge issues used to distract us from the business of governing need to be exposed and derided for the pox on Democracy that they are.
I'll take someone that stands up to these fringe issues' domination of our national agenda anyday.

27. it went down about 2 percent from 2000 and it's still higher than 1996 |
|
and before.
much of the reason is because of religious conservative blacks who voted for bush based on things like gay rights. the same can be said about jews and other groups. they are the more conservative leaning types who would never have voted for democrats anyways. the only difference is they went out and voted for bush rather than stay home.

All of those numbers are questionable. And stupid, gullible people come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Maybe if we spent more time trying to educate the people and less trying to pander to them, we wouldn't have this problem.

The reason I asked if you read the BC is that they don't have a very high opinion of Clinton OR the DLC. They believe they were sold out.

47. Blame, bribery in the form of "faith based initiatives." Not Al Sharpton.. |
|
I don't think any said that they didn't vote for Kerry because of Al Sharpton. As a matter of fact, on the heels of the Dem primaries, right after Al Sharpton had received a lot of exposure during the debates, Kerry polled higher than he did afterwards. So, your argument on its face seems to be incoherent.

John Stewart was completely correct when he called those guys "partisan hacks" and Tucker Carlson a "dick". Sharpton's appearance on the show should embarrass all Democrats worse that his stint on reality TV.
Especially when the story leading in is the new personal life allegations, which he then spends his time defending. Come on.
Don't get me wrong. I Like the guy. I just think it is below him to support such overt spin.
Any chance he will call Larry King the "Crypt Keeper" to his face tonight? Then he really would be living my dream.

think that openly endorsing the kind of misinformation produced by Crossfire is a disservice to his record, convention speech and other accomplishments?
These guys are the bottom of the barrel. When Novack was out recently, the brought in G. Gordon Liddy as a fill in. Is Sharpton just the left wing's G. Gordon Liddy now?

I like Al as a public speaker (easily the best of all the candidates last year), but the dude can't organize his way out of a paper bag. Jesse organized beyond his base in the 80s, and organized hard. The Rainbow Coalition really was a rainbow.
