Quote of the day: Donald Rumsfeld |
|
You go to war with the army you have, not the harm me you wish to have some time in the future.
Listen carefully, he really says harm me.

not the president you might want or wish to have at a later time."

2. That Q and A was something else. |
|
They replayed a good section of it on PBS' "The News Hour." It shows the troops aren't to thrilled with the support they are (or aren't) getting from the pentagon.

3. After that Q&A in front of live cameras with the military . . . |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 01:46 AM by TaleWgnDg
I'd wager that Donald Rumsfeld, our illustrious Secretary of Defense, will never again repeat it. He was zonked w/ several very good questions, and we saw several on television:
1.) After 3 years our (motor) vehicles still have no armor so we hafta go to the dump heap and make our own from broken glass and scraps of sheet metal, why is this still so?
2.) How come the regular Army gets better equipment than does the National Guard and Reserves, including body armor and vehicle armor?
3.) I signed a contract that said nothing about "stop gap" extensions of my military contract when I enlisted, why am I still here? And when is this going to stop? When can I go home?
Rumsfeld was caught. Beautiful. And our men and women deserve better than this shaft they've been handed by these bastards!!
edited to add: This frank, honest, and in yer face ability shown by our military to question Rumsfeld, demonstrates that Rumsfeld is sooooooooo damn out-of-touch w/ his own military men and women. He never expected to made such a fool. He walked right in and sat right down in full view of America's lights, camera, action! This entire administration is a bunch of stupid, incompetent idiots. Wha? Nobody told him that he would be so confronted?

4. Someone please tell me why he still has a job? |
|
Is Jon Stewart right: if you want to keep your job in this White House, it's not enough to be incompetent; you have to be grossly incompetent?

5. I think somebody did tell him. That's why it was Rumsfeld, |
|
not Bush addressing the troops. Who won the military vote, hmmmmmm? I would surely like to know.

7. interesting post earlier today about the military vote |
|
A mother of a soldier in Iraq was told that the military vote went to Bush 60/40. Her son was stunned, because he and everyone he knew voted for Kerry. He went around asking and couldn't find anyone who voted for Bush. The mother says her son is now facing some sort of discipline for having "a big mouth." I find that post all the more interesting in light of today's Q&A with Rumsfeld. I don't have a link to the post, but you could use the search function to find it.

9. Pride goeth before a fall |
|
I wonder if it equates with arrogance. I bet these guys figure they have The Gift to bullshit anybody anyplace anytime. I've known some chronic liars, they figure any answer that gets them off the immediate hook works. Not only that but they call it The Truth. Rummy is probably smirking to himself about how well he handled those loudmouth grunts today. I think it's also how they managed to put the dumbest asswipe they could find in the White House and let him speak before cameras. They even set him out on the stage to debate Kerry, and they feel he did well. Perhaps it will be their undoing. If Donny thinks he did well today, maybe he will do it again.

11. That arrogant fuck. Questions about life & death matters and he gives.. |
|
...a snotty flippant answer. I'm surprised the troops didn't just kick his ass outta there.
1.) they knew for at least a year ahead of time they were going into Iraq and could have built, assembled and sent adequate equipment to our troops as they prepared to go into the field of battle;
2.) it's going on two years and they're STILL coping with shitty equipment!;
3.) if it had been a priority with this administration, it would have been done by now;
CONCLUSION:
Bush, Rumsfeld and the rest just don't give a rat's ass about the fate of our troops, so long as the Project for A New American Century moves ahead.....
