Rumsfeld cites soldiers critical question as evidence of Liberty
When a soldier asked Rumsfeld an unexpected question regarding real issues of Army Hummer's woeful lack of armor against road side bombs, his answer of "You get the Army you have" is said to have been taken out of context.
Donald Rumsfeld has now spun this encounter as evidence of the true freedom of America.

It has come to this. An unexpected question that merely hinted at the administration's failure to offer a minumum of protection for the troops is now a shining example of Liberty.

The soldier's question was not an indictment of the Army or war.
Nor did he point out that the average stock car in Nascar is modified for safety a hundred times more than a Humvee is for war.
All the same this is the extent of the liberty in this program for the new American century of invasion/pre-emptive war.

In my opinion it would have been more truthful for Rumsfeld to say "We don't have the time to be intelligent or rational".
Of course truth has nothing to do with endless war.

ALL of people we get to see in this administration are only the sales division for the corporation of war. The sales division goes from the President, all his Secretaries, Supreme court justices, the House, Media giants and goes all the way down to programers for Diebold.

When was the last time you really believed a salesman?
But at least we have the freedom to believe Liberty is alive and well because Donald Rumsfeld says so.

3. Figures
I saw the spin this morning. It was enough to make my stomach turn. The 'machine' is now turning out drivel about a 'healthy open relationship' and the benefits of yesterdays 'constructive criticism' bla bla bla

The people in charge of managing this war have failed miserably on every level. It amazes me that people dont see it. It would also amaze me that the media doesnt discuss it, but I know enough to realize it all comes down to business and money

On a similar note....whatever happened to the military votes. Was there ever a final report on the results? Other than the story floating around about how ballots were sent out late and some may not get the chance to cast their votes, I havent heard much mentioned by the media

Makes you wonder if Bush won the military vote this time round. The people most effected by his bad policies are the service people over there fighting. I'd imagine they would be the first group of people to shift their support

10. Funny, I cite his snippy inadequate answer
as evidence of the threat we face to liberty.

By the way, it says volumes that the Pirates of Halliburton are trying to PROVE that they're not repressive thugs...

16. That got yanked, too.....
By the way, Rumsfeld outright lied to boot....the company that makes the armor told Bloomberg they could increase the output 22% at no additional cost, had notified the Department of Defense, and had yet to get the order....

It wasn't the sex, it was the lying (snicker)

14. Let's wait for the promotion list
...and see if young Sgt. Wilson's name is on it!

Although, on the (significantly, in military terms) bright side, his ISIC (first general officer above him in the chain of command) is backing him up--his staff put out a statement saying that the higher ups in the chain not only KNEW what was going on with the jerryrigged armor, but also assisted the units by directing them to the areas where the damaged vehicles were junked so that they could pick them over with greater efficiency.

He may be in one of those curious situations where the Pentagon hates him, but they are afraid NOT to promote him for fear of media backlash. He's got a ways to go before he gets to 20, though...a long time to function in a hostile work environment--and I'm not talking about combat, either...

19. If we really had justice in this country
rummy and all the others would be in prison.

PRISON. Crimes against humanity. For sending our military to attack a country that did nothing to us and posed no threat to us.
