|
that somehow the country JUST found out that the soldiers have NOT had the proper equipment! Pat and Franks are leading people to believe that the soldier's question is the first we've heard that the troops did not have the armor or weapons that they need. This is NOT new, by any stretch of the imagination! Kerry said this repeatedly on the campaign trail - and he was accused of being unpatriotic for saying it. Not to mention, the neocons blamed Kerry for the lack of equipment because he "voted against the $87 Bil. Funny thing about that - the bill passed and the troops STILL don't have the equipment they need. I hope the bush cartel rots in hell for their murders.

I'm waiting for that to come out again. The troops are underequipped because of Kerry. Uh huh. So where is the money going that should be going to the troops? Haliburten? Perhaps that's why Kerry didn't want to vote for that blank check of a bill that used the Republican charge card to pay for the war. Where IS the money going as we try to conduct war on the cheap?

Even when there is absolutely no doubt that Al is correct on an individual point, people like Coulter aren't honest and sincere enough to say, "Yeah, you got me on that one, Al. Rumsfeld could have handled that better. But on the rest of the things you said..."
No.
Damn, I hate her.

It may feel good, but it doesn't get the job done.
We don't need to be Repub-lite, but neither do we need to go down in a ball of passionate flames never to be seen again.
We need to win this damn it. And that means discipline. And discipline means wipe the froth from around your mouth before they shoot you as mad.

For years we've watched liberal progressives trying to calmly lay out their arguments reasonably, and they come off as wimps. There must be something between reasonable (i.e. dull) and "frothing at the mouth." By the way, I think reasonable and calm -should- work, but demonstrably it doesn't.

That's why I say passionate and yet reasonable.
Bless his heart, and though I wouldn't have done much better, Lawrence ODonnell is a prime example. When faced with O'Neill on Buchanan's show, he coudn't stop shouting "Liar! Liar! Lying liar!"
And we haven't seen him since. As understandable as it was, did it help?

38. Uh, that's not logical. Since 'Rush,' O'Reilly, Hannity, Scarborough... |
|
and all the other Right-Wing talkies rant and rave all the time, and people love it! No one fires them for their frothing at the mouth. In fact, no one even seems to mind that their statements have NO basis in reality (i.e. Ann Coulter). A condition they'd NEVER tolerate from a Liberal. I personally felt O'Donnell's "opinionated display" against The Swiftboat Veterans for Lies was well over-due, and entirely cathartic for both O'Donnell, as well as those of us who'd had enough of the MSM lies surrounding the story repeated again and again. We haven't seen O'Donnell since because the Right owns MSM, and O'Donnell wasn't talking the Party 'line.' So they silenced him. So much for Freedom of Speech.
Also, the part of Al Franken's debate which Ann Coulter which I saw was NOT anywhere near as obnoxious as the daily-approved antics of Rush or O'Reilly or Hannity.
Come on, let's be fair and balanced with the Liberals too.

|
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 10:32 PM by eleny
After talking about Rumsfeld's statements on the Iraqi looting - how a free people are allowed to loot - Al invited Coulter to go with him and do some looting for jewelry for her. Her face was frozen in mild confusion. I guess she'll regroup since they went to a break. But the moment is lost to her.

And this is AFTER she had a commercial break to collect herself and concentrate, and maybe even review notes.
If Al is smart (and I know he is) he's probably peppering her with questions and keeping her off-ballance during the breakes.
She is *so* out of her league with Al Franken, when Bill O'Reilly isn't controling the mic.

I think Franken did embarrass himself though. It wasn't that he was way out of control, even though he did seem to be nervous and on edge, its that from the beginning he just started attacking Coulter -seemingly for little reason and wouldn't stop. And he kept butting in when others were trying to speak. When it was his turn he just meandered and seemed incoherent saying stuff that didn't seem to have anything to do with the question. His speech was slurred too; at one point he couldn't even pronounce movie - he said "mover", twice - lol. If you told me he was on something I'd believe you. And he didn't seem to be able to control his temper; I've seen that from him before though: his eye twitches, he gets an angry look, and he raises his voice. By the end of the show his the upper right side of his lip was quivering. That was one of the most embarrassing performances I've ever seen on one of those shows; he made a fool of himself.

Have you ever heard the saying that goes something like.... when in Rome, do as the Romans? If he acted like Kerry or something, well, we all know the end of that story. If good Democrats get back to their roots (and stop trying to please "the middle") we will be just fine when it's all said and done.
