A question about Harry Reid and Clarence Thomas |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 02:32 AM by Lone_Wolf_Moderate
I'm sure you've all heard this story by now. Sen. Reid basically says Thomas is unqualified for the Court, and the right-wingers cry racism. The racism charge is absurd, but I do have a question. My main problem with Clarence Thomas is that he's a right-wing activist judge, but so is Scalia. Why does Reid blast Thomas, yet praise Scalia? Are Thomas' opinions really that troubling? Is Scalia's record, independent of his temperment that solid? Is Reid pandering? Can any SCOTUS experts help out here? Is it possible that Thomas, regardless of his right-wing activist temperment, is just a bad judge? Is this racist charge ridiculous?

1. an example is comparing George W Bush and Bill Frist |
|
both guys are right wingers with a right wing agenda, but Bill Frist is intelligent and can make an argument based on laws and legal history that is reasonable/logical about what and why he has certain positions.
Bush can't.
the same with Scalia and Thomas. Thomas is a clueless fool who never says anything during court hearings. how the fuck is someone a supreme court justice yet says nothing ? never asking questions.
Scalia on the other hand is able to make an argument and debate with others.

2. Thanks. That clears it up. |

You're right. You already ever hear Thomas say anything. Scalia's always out there, but Thomas never says anything. Thank you for the context. The enemy of propaganda is context.
