Freepers call Rumsfeld-questioning soldier Spc. Thomas Wilson "an idiot"
"RUMSFELD SET UP; REPORTER PLANTED QUESTIONS WITH SOLDIER (DRUDGE SIREN)"

That soldier is still an idiot. What good does telling the enemy those trucks aren't armored in a public serve? More people will die now because that idiot pointed out a weak point.

Let's do to them, what they always do to conservatives. Remember way back when a Democratic memo was leaked from the Intelligence Committee detailing how they were going to use the committee and it's information for political gain? Remember? And what was the result? The Dems succeeded in turning attention away from the memo and to the "absolutely terrible theft of private Democratic materials". They went after the messenger and not the message. Well, let's go after the messenger (reporter) and not the message (the Rumsfeld reaction).

I tried to point out yesterday that his was part of a MSM propaganda campaign. Yet I received vile and hateful responses. Boy are people gullible. The "worried" soldier was a plant. I sure as H wouldn't want to be in a fox hole with him.

Okay, I may be in the minority here, but I actually think the question(s) were entirely appropriate. Hey, these guys have their lives on the line; they should have the right to ask the civilian leadership some of these pertinent questions. Moreover, I think Rummy could have provided a better response. I do know they are working hard to get armored humvees, but say so, and reiterate it. I think what we are reacting to here, however, is the media's ongoing effort, either real or perceived, to try and sandbag the Bush administration.

4. Like I said before- I wouldn't go that route if I were them.
A lot of those other soldiers- the cheering ones- seemed to agree with his asking that question.

7. One of the other posts in that thread...
...said that now that the soldier said they were rummaging through the trash for material to use as armor, the insurgents are going to start "mining" the trash, so the question "aided the enemy."

It really makes my head spin.

6. What's their problem?
The front-line troops have insufficient armor. They need more and they need it now.

So give them the armor they need. It shouldn't require moving heaven and earth to get it. It's an issue of materiel, not politics.

What are they gassing about?

8. Since the "Freeps" live in an upside down world, the true
meaning of what they say can be understood by exactly reversing their statements. "Clean air act" means "Dirty air act". "Homeland Security"
means "Protect the government from Americans". "Spread freedom around the world" means "Expand the fascist empire around the world".

Take any speech by Bush and reverse everything he says and voila, you have the truth.

11. oh I see....
soldiers are dying over there because they're talking in public about the inadequacies of their equipment....setting aside the fact that even the pentagon has publicly discussed and acknowledged that some units have deployed without proper equipment, are the freepers seriously saying that insurgents would put down their weapons and cease attacking convoys and patrols if they didn't know there were problems with armament? More people will die because we're sending more people over into a situation that is getting more and more dangerous....

And I love the idea that Spc. Wilson was a "plant" - implying that he deliberately enlisted in the military for the purpose of getting to Kuwait to ask the question - WTF. And if he was such a tool of the "liberal media" then why was the reaction to his question cheers from the rest of the soldiers in the audience? Are they all "plants"?

14. hey it isn't like the soldiers over there are important..after all they
aren't part of the *army we want* they are the scum that they got stuck with...but they make perfect cannon fodder...so why waste money on supplies to protect them...

You watch, this story will get buried now under all the press about the question being planted by a reporter...that will become the story...kindof like the way they buried the info about Bush's NG misdeeds...
