Secretary of Treasury Snow Evaded Taxes
In the year 2000, CSX Corp. forgave Treasury Secretary John Snow (he also runs the IRS), a $24.5-million loan.

This is a taxable transaction.

Treasury Secretary John Snow did not report the debt forgiveness to the IRS, nor did he pay any taxes on the debt forgiveness.

The amount of Secretary Snow’s tax evasion is over $10,000,000.

12. Could you ask your father-in-law if this is the correct impression:
It's my impression that CSX's business is basically that they've been given a great deal of the public land on which railroad rights of way sit and they sell them off in pieces, pocketing huge profits which they don't return to the governments from whom they got the land.

CSX also makes sure that the land is sold in pieces so that it will be incredibly expensive for a government to ever buy back all that land and build a rail system or rapid transit networks again.

In fact, my impression of the railroad industry is that it has been a scheme to privatize huge amounts of public wealth. Government overpaid (with taxpayer money) to buy land from their buddies who owned public land when they built all the rail lines over the last 150 years, and now they're selling it back for less than it's worth and the profits are going to a private company -- and they must know that one day they're going to need that land back.

Is my impression correct?

6. I don't trust this

Snow was on The Daily Show and explained that he left because the administration wasn't listening to expert advice. He actually railed on them quite a bit.

It could be true, or not; either way, the release of the info is probably retaliation by the admin.

ON EDIT NEVER MIND: I was confusing Snow with O'Neil.

11. Was supposed to link to Heritage.org
There's something broken with the HTML encoding of the URL. It is misinterpreting the displayed text portion ("http://WhoreYourselfToTheCorporateRepublicanElite.com") as the URL and not displaying the URL portion ("http://heritage.org").

Killed that attempt at humor. Oh well.

15. Big fucking deal
As if anything will ever come of it. As if the attorney general will appoint a special prosecutor to investigate it. As if any of the MSM will report it. As if anyone in this administration will ever be held accountable for anything.
