CNN tells it like it is!
WASHINGTON (AP) -- On his first trip abroad since signing up for a second hitch as secretary of defense, Donald H. Rumsfeld saw vivid evidence of progress as well as problems in the global war on terrorism.

In his public remarks during a voyage that circumvented the globe, he displayed both the passion and the blunt-spokeness that have made him a favorite of troops and a popular target of critics.

I suppose they meant "circumnavigate", but it's much more honest this way.

Is the AP hiring beginner "English as a second Language" students to write their wire stories now?

Blunt-spokenness? That's not a word in my dictionary, even without the Hyphen:tinfoilhat:

6. No, the word is correct, though it's not a good one to use...
One meaning is to make a circuit around.

10. I went to work with the skills I had... not the ones they wanted... I was
fired....

I went to the store with the money I had... didn't get what I needed...

I managed a war pretty much on the cheap.... now look at the mess I created....

By now you would pretty much think.... the unrest would have abated...

The onsies and twosies are really quite bad... now that they are 10's of thousands....

My unknowns are now knowns.. and that is I didn't know the known people in Iraq would knowingly detest a known occupation....

So if you are sad that the army you have, is not the army you need...

Try and be glad like a proper lad, for all the insurgents you freed...

Remember.... Nixon almost fired Rummy for being too much of a "Dove".

15. She is a writer, poet, architect... her first book The God of Small
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 08:15 AM by 4MoronicYears
Things won a Booker Prize, her second book, Power Politics, concerns the dams in India that have displaced over 50,000,000 poor people in the last 50 years or so along with Enron's forays into India's electrical infrastructure along with the resultant energy nightmare they lived through... her name is Arundhati Roy... I look up to her spirit without hesitation, limitation, or fear. She has been imprisoned on several occasions for writing on behalf of her people... as it should be in a world such as this. She is free... she is timeless.

Product Description:
Arundhati Roy, the author of The God of Small Things, explores the politics of writing and the price of "development" driven by profit. Roy challenges the idea that only "experts" can speak out on such urgent matters as nuclear war, the human costs of the privatization of India's power supply by U.S.-based energy companies, and the construction of monumental dams in India. Includes new essays written since September 11
