Congrats, John Edwards. But I think you would get chewed up by Rove...
in the general election. You'll get portrayed as a slick-talking trial lawyer whose main message is that he wants to help poor people. Unfortunately, nowadays that's a tough sell. We live in selfish times.

5. Well, let's just wait and see.
Edwards is not my choice but, you know, I bet he's way smarter than Rove who, as near as I can tell, makes mistake after mistake after mistake.

And who but a "slick-talking trial lawyer" can talk his way out of Rove's lies?

As for the "slick" part, we loved Slick Willy.

Americans love a guy who can outslick the wiley ones.

If Edwards can do that, well, he may just be the candidate.

He might do well.

7. That tactic will be SO easy to counter...
The lawyers that people really hate are the corporate types, exactly the ones the Edwards spanked in case after case...

He represented people, not corporations.

Edwards can hardly wait for * and KKKarl Rove to go after him on this issue.

10. Both Kerry and Edwards will.
They're both Senators. And the Senate has been nothing but a rubber-stamp for Bush for going on three years now. You can't run against someone when you've really only supported their policies.

The first thing Rove is going to do is get out Kerry's and Edwards' voting records. And that should be the end of that. They're going to be reduced to a few cubic-inches' worth of "opposition space" to Bush.

21. "only supported their policies"?
They've consistently fought on workers' rights, the environment, the tax code, judicial appointments and a host of other things. They have been anything but a rubber stamp.

Your argument is this: they come from a body that hasn't done things that it wasn't capable of with its balance, therefore they're as sinful as the worst republican. That's the same kind of smearing we've been hearing in this campaign, and it's absolutely incorrect.

23. But did he
Vote for fat Elvis or skinny elvis?.....jk

Admireable voting record.....right down party line for the most part. I think it shows more character to vote the way you think, the way you truly believe is the best way regardless of what your party is telling you. I don't think the pugs can say much when it comes to Kerry's OR Edward's voting records.

17. Not a consideration
All the major candidates have vulnerabilities that can be attacked or exploited. It is clear that all have major strengths also and can do well against Bush. One can spend endless time worrying about what Rove can do but it is not a worthwhile exercise. He will sleaze and slime and play dirty pool. We know this. Let the candidates make their case. Choose the one you think would make the best president.

20. Remember, he won in a Republican state...
In 1998, he was the only Democrat to unseat an incumbent Republican Senator. He did it in the midst of the Lewinsky scandal. He did it in a state where Bush beat Gore by 13%.

He is SO ready for this fight.
