CA residents, you might like to know where our Senator stands
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 07:30 AM by pnutchuck
regarding abstinence only education. I was floored to receive this email today.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write
to me to share your thoughts about teaching students
abstinence-only sex education. I welcome this
opportunity to respond to you.

It is important to ensure that young people are
mentally and emotionally ready for the responsibilities
that come with sexual relations. There are many related
problems facing today=s students, including sexually-
transmitted diseases (STDs) and teen pregnancy.

This is a complicated issue and I am glad you took
the time to share your thoughts with me. I am aware that
there are questions regarding the age at which it is
appropriate to begin learning about sex, as well as how
sexual education should be taught. I believe that
abstinence education, coupled with family planning can
help young people to make informed decisions.

While schools clearly have a role, I believe that
parents have the main responsibility to teach children
about responsible behavior. I will keep your comments
in mind should legislation regarding sexual education
come before the Senate for a vote. Please note, however,
that primary responsibility for our public schools rests
with state and local governments, so you may wish to
contact your local and state government officials to share
your views on this issue with them.

Again, thank you for your letter. If I can answer
any additional questions you may have, or if I can be of
any assistance to you, please feel free to call my
Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

1. already knew she sucked
She also supports the INDUCE act, and is an all-in-all republican-light douche of a senator that MUST be replaced as soon as possible. Can anyone here name ONE progressive issue she has fought for (besides banning firearms) that didn't already have republican support? This woman isn't doing us any good.
