35. It was faxed to the WH Friday night at 6 pm...
per Newsweek

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6697161/site/newsweek

about a condo deal in NJ....within, what, 2 hrs we heard he was withdrawing himself from being nominated? Newsweek faxed the copy to the WH along with other stuff on the deal.

Somewhere else here on DU it was said that the WH saw the nanny deal as not being a problem..guess they felt differently about the info they got Friday night?

19. Arrest warrant in 1998, sudden $6 million stock market killing,
Six weeks in Iraq "training" police forces, abandoned Korean daughter, flaccid performance as Police Commissioner, "nanny problem", personal bankruptcy . . . .

Pick however many you want. :eyes:

32. I believe the nanny story, but think there's much more to it . . .
NY Times reports that the unidentified nanny returned to her unidentified country just two weeks ago. My, what a coincidence. Sounds to me like Kerik scrambled and manuevered to get her out of the country before his nomination. Who knows what was involved with that or what else is going on with that situation?

And this is probably just the latest in what was going to be a long line of problems creeping up - in just one week with a minimum of digging, so many skeletans fell out of that guys closet, we could barely keep them straight. Imagine what would have come out during the next few weeks?

4. not really
if he had resigned because of his ties to the saudis and the problems in iraq or and other things involving corrupt payments it would be something.

but instead he resigned over some nanny. it's a shame the above things i mentioned weren't enough to cause an outrage.

9. Happy to celebrate, of course, but...
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 10:59 AM by scarletwoman
I really don't see how his withdrawal has anything to do with anything *we* did.

I think that the powers-that-be in the Ruling Class made the decision for their OWN reasons. Do you really think they care what WE think?

Plus, who knows who'll be picked next -- I kinda doubt it will be anyone worth celebrating for...

10. I don't believe either story is the reason for his withdrawl...
There have been a few stories out there about 911 and the Bush connection. I have reserved judgment on them myself, but who's to say Kerik wasn't warned that the evidence is mounting and his name will come up? I noticed there has been no mention of some very prominent figures during the 911 crisis. I have never been a conspiracy theorist in the past, but this past few years has been like living in a dream, or should I say a nightmarish premonition?

14. Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton supported Kerik's nomination
so I don't know why anyone can claim this as a Democratic "victory," particularly when the official story is that Kerik had a "nanny problem."

Remember Zoey Baird and Kimba Wood?

The well-to-do hire undocumented aliens to take care of their spoiled kids and their fancy homes. This is a bipartisan scandal.

17. I notice this trend too...
Do you ever wonder if they are supporting nominations to ultimately end up exposing some of their dirty little secrets? Hillary and Schumer surely aren't that myopic that they don't bother to check these people out before they endorse them are they?

20. If Democrats were as clever as you suggest...
how come the GOP controls the White House, Congress, and most State legislatures?

I have heard this tin foil theory far too often for the past 4 years. It usually takes the form of so-and-so giving Bush enough rope to hang himself and blah, blah, blah.

23. You are absolutely correct of course...
It is hard for many of us to believe this country is being led by a bunch of morons and we keep electing people to serve as our representatives that are just as moronic! Coming to the conclusion that our entire system of government and everyone who serves in it, and our entire MSM and everyone that works for it is corrupt beyond hope is really a hard pill to swallow!

heaven and that he'd fall under his own weight and they didn't need to use up their political energy or political capital going after him.

18. "If the Democrats won't defend America, how can we trust them?"
The passive Democrats image of not fighting back for this country on the stolen election, on Bush covering up Saudi Arabia's role in 9/11 and now this disaster to make Gays officially second-class, is why the public won't trust the government to the Democrats. If the Democrats won't defend America, how can we trust them?

The above is an excerpt from Bob Kuntz's excellent open letter to Hillary Clinton:

this is BS on both sides. If only the ineptness of a fool like Kerik wouldnt cost us innocent lives, I would have rather had him stay on so America can see what kinds of idiots we choose to lead us.

30. By pulling the nomination this quickly,
Bush avoids fighting a battle he knows he'll lose, and one that might cost him political capital. When the Democrats do something like that this board explodes with recriminations and accusations of weakness and cowardice and spinelessness and trying to "please the Republicans" and on and on and on. Bush does it, and it's no big deal, the Democrats had nothing to do with it.

What can one say...
