If the soldier's question to rummy was a put up deal, what was the up side
for Bush? Did the fools believe that Rummies answer would go over peachy? Perhaps the plan was to give Bush the opening to take the sympathy side to scam the troops, and then have a big show of shipping armament that was sitting in the wings already to be shipped.
This STINKS.

1. to justify the coming $100 BILLION bill
I believe all this is leaking out because they want to prepare Americans for the next bill to pay for the war, which is starting to look like it's being raised from $70 billion to $100 billion. They don't care if they have to make Rummy look bad. He's just another scapegoat. As long as they accomplish their objectives, that's all they care about. More money in the pockets of their friends.

3. No, the idea was
that the reporter put him up to it. The soldier's girlfriend denies this.
even if it was fixed, a) who cares? and b) the room full of G.I.s all applauded, so...yeah. Plus the question asked by another soldier about the stop-loss policy was popular as well.

4. You're right. I heard an interview with the reporter.
The soldiers were very concerned about this, but those press conferences are so controlled that it's hard for them to make their voices heard.

So the reporter was basically just helping the soldiers by standing next to them and giving them an opportunity to speak publically.

7. I agree. If the reporter got this question asked, I thank him.
That could mean there is some lonely reporter interested in the truth. We should support that for all the obvious reasons.

5. the administration is being criticised for its alleged sins
in a way that cost em zilch (those who dislike bush are held in utter contempt by the busheviks...if anything, pointing out bushinc's weakness vis the troops just strengthens the bushevik resolve vis the lefty press)..btw why are we talking about what the mediawhore wants us to instead of the vile mediawhores themselves? look at sam donaldson, supposedly a professional who suddenly departed stage when biggest earth shaking events unfolding; didya know he bacame fabulously wealthy selling out his country and even he could no longer playtact the mediapro so he quit...even he! Yet he's allowed to take his millions and retire unscathed...same with brocaw-caw...and dan rawther...ari fleisher, ashcroft, powell (if he really goes) ken starr, ted olsen etc etc....didya notice pj o'rourk and william fukked buckley are no longer in biz? maybe they see the same thing we can see (dead people etc)?

6. Last night on Scars show
the repuke girl was saying that the reporter was just making his own story so he could take the glory of the "Big Story" my way of seeing it was the story was the neglect of not having the vehicles armored yet after over a year of supposingly having it done. The reporter didn't create that problem, the Pentagon did. So her arguement was flawed, only thing is that the republican talking points will be exactly that, that the reported created the story.

8. Regardless of where the question originated,
the fact remains that the vehicles haven't been armored and lives are being lost. Funny how all of a sudden the admin is so concerned now that this issue has received such national attention. Why weren't they concerned prior to illegally and immorally invading Iraq?

9. What if....
What if the original military contract numbers were non-negotiable. Could this have been a set up, by Rummy, to force the contractors into producing more product? I've read that the contractors are selling many of these same vehicles to non-US military buyers. If the contractors were making more money on the foreign sales and the US military contracts were filled as negotiated this might have been needed to shake things up. I could be way off base but I've seen this happen before, think flu shots.

10. Wrong.
The contractor is on record as saying they're ready to increase production. They've been ready for some time. There are several threads on the subject.

This story was initially reported some time ago, but nobody paid attention. How many of our troops have died or been maimed uselessly since then?

13. ?? They WANT us to discuss this and not the real question
that's the whole point. They're throwing us a distraction so we'll talk about the "reporter" and the "planted question" and all of that shit and quit talking about the fact that Rummy is a bald-faced liar and he got caught with his pants down.

By even discussing this one bit we're doing what they want us to do.
