This is ugly stuff and feels very threatening, for some reason.

Well, it shows that there's bad guys everywhere, and that they don't respect democracy.

BTW:
Has any contact been made between DU and the Ukraine democratic underground? If there is any, I mean? I remember reading a post about a Ukraine girl travelling to monitor the elections or something, but not any actual contact.
Bet the Ukranians would appreciate it.

7. I seem to remember a post in the Election 2004 forum.

from someone saying that it was cold and hard, but that it needed to be done, and they are happy to be protesting.

There were some awestruck and highly respectful replies. People here should be ashamed when they see the Ukraine.

8. Different country, different methods, perhaps?

I've seen a lot of people here doing awesome work to investigate the election fraud and use democracy to fight for itself.
Not as romantic, perhaps, but it does work along the same lines.

And then the Ukranians probably was extra pissed because of the poisoning of the man they liked.

In the US the candidate isn't poisoned off, his name and reputation are poisoned instead. Much more difficult to trace that poison, because it's injected not into him, but into us all.

Difficult to hit the streets in a country where up is down, backwards forwards and lies the truth. And only sometimes, not all the time.
Makes the focus blurred, kinda.

And then there's 911.
