Few Democratic politicians and big names will admit to reading DU....
Elizabeth Edwards and Chris Heinz being the exceptions. However, I would bet there are many that take a little peek to see what is being said about them on the Cyber Grassroots Network? (CGN) But, they do not wish to be publically affiliated with anything "underground" so they never mention it or admit it in public for fear of being labeled as a "kook".

This is just my gut feeling about it. But that is probably for the best. Because if folks here knew there were big-name Democrats reading their words, they would somehow change or moderate their words, making DU less opinionated and less "underground"... Just a thought.

1. Not me
If I say it .....I mean it. No moderation here. The DNC and the IDP both need an overhaul and I have explained that to them in emails and to some faces. And they need LEADERSHIP> something we haven't had for alond time

2. The Pols must be suffering from Cognitive Dissonance
if they're reading this site.

Hey, Pols, ever heard of Peakoil?
Do you think 911 was LIHOP or MIHOP?
Heve you ever made a cell phone call
above 4000 ft altitude?
Do you believe in Exit Polls?
Was this Intel Bill you just passed a
cover for Patriot Act II?
Feel a Draft?
Think we'll ever have another election-will the
votes be counted if we do-who will count them?

3. I hope they are reading.
It's about time they were exposed to what folks with feet on the ground are thinking, asking and demanding. Reality check time.

4. i dont think
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 10:36 AM by seabeyond
they are so arrogant in their belief they know what is best, they have little interest in what common man has to say. they are parents that dont isten to the children. shoot, they dont even read the bills that they sign. i cant see them putting in the extra effort of reading what common man has to say

you notice the two people you point out to reading arent actually the ones running, they are the ones interested in politics and want their voice heard. now probably elizabeths voice is heard a little more than mine. but they are not the leaders, and decision makers

on edit: i use to think they did. but if they can not even listen to us, hearing us say we want our vote to count. we want someone to fix this. bush stole the election. makes no difference in 2008 if we do nothing now. and how they all sit in oblivion not seeing there is a problem with the voting issue. just a little pissy right now

5. Heh
I'd like to see Smokin' Joe Mentum pop in and say hi. He'd get the hair blasted right off his head. It'd be our first 2000-plus thread with nothing but deleted posts.

Hi Joe :hi:

6. I doubt even the Elizabeth Edwards thing.
Has anyone ever seen her actually say "I go on DU and my name on there is _____" outside of DU itself?

8. As a big name democrat
(my real name is 42 letters long) I just gotta say:

Who in hell wants to be associated with a bunch of loony leftists who consider 9/11 to be a conspiracy, the election to have been stolen, and the war in Iraq to be a huge mistake?

What democrat would ever get elected again if he or she were known to be giving a ready ear to such preposterous explanations of why this country is going down the toilet?

Is it not far better to just go with the flow -down the pipes as it were - with the pulpitized sermons about gays, gunshots, and germs?

This country's fearful leader has nothing but the best intentions about his government going to Halliburton in a briefcase, and were not afraid of him, are we?

No. Let us gather here today, and take back our party. In other words; "Quit Partying!", get with the program and become servants to the Elephant, it is the only way we shall ever unite these divided states, and if your aren't against us, you are for these divided states!

I say: Be Free, dammit all, and freely offer thy blood on that sacrificial stump to be the A-Merry-cansumer that our forefathers so hoped we wouldn't become.

Get out there and Shop!

This message brought to you by the DLC and DNC factions of the RNC part of the KKK owned and operated by the **** company families directly descended from the Youth Hitler Nazi League, whose members are now grown up and are in charge.

is an accident?

Do you think Afghanistan is a success story?

11. There's a lot of good stuff in DU
but there's a lot of crap too. I understand completely why a mainstream Democratic politician wouldn't want anything to do with DU.

12. I've learned to wade past the crap; they could too.
Seriously, I can usually tell the difference between flamebait and a damn good discussion at first glance of the SL.

I'm pretty sure you can too. I can't explain how I do it, bit I've become pretty good at it.

If they do give a damn about the grassroots, they need to lurk like crazy here.

If they don't, well, they can keep on doing what they have been.

14. yeah, but it would be WAY too easy for RW "pundits" to accuse them
of things, all they have to do is make the association:

"this is the same website that purports that ...... (controlled demolition of WTC) (missile on the WTC jetliner) (fill in the blank here)

the point of the thread) but I do hope they read the more intelligent discussions--there are amny to choose from.

16. Better to not acknowledge...
but pick and choose the information that they wish to use. Keeping a distance from DU would probably be the wise thing for them to do... It permits the DU to remain wide open discussion when it is not associated with the establishment. After all, would we be so critical of the DLC if we knew we had a few tuning in? :)

They certainly dont go on TV with any of the good stories on DU.

19. I don't thing they read DU.
They don't even read their incoming e-mails. If they did, they would know what we think. Didn't Feinstein get more calls and e-mails against the Iraq War Resolution, and didn't she vote for it anyway?

20. Who remembers Robert Byrd, on the floor of the Senate
waxing eloquent AGAINST the Iraq War Resolution? DUers pooled their money to send him flowers, we were so proud of his courage in standing against this war. Don't you remember the day he stood there - on the floor of the Senate, and said:
"There's an Undergound out there, growing against this president, and this war, a DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND...."

I'll NEVER forget that day!
