If you can't beat em, join em. Why we should register Republican
We hold these truths to be self evident...

1. Republicans have absolutely no values, no morals and no sense of decency.

2. They will stoop to whatever level it takes to advance their agenda no matter who it harms either now or in the future.

3. Republicans don't care about democracy, the planet or the people on it, they only care about themselves.

4. For the sake of all mankind, they must be stopped.

That said, I believe it is time for us to start fighting them from within rather than from without. They control the media, they control the voting machines and they control all houses of power in the country. Any attempt at exposing them as the crooks and liars they are is either ignored or dismissed as the work of wild eyed conspiracy nuts or unpatriotic subversives. Lets face it, they control the message. If they don't get their way all the time, every time, the "machine" blasts the opposition. They scream, they yell, they get 24 hour press. They will destroy their opponents by any means necessary.

The opposition, unfortunately, makes hardly a peep, no matter how egregious the violation of law, decency, the constitution and yes, even the teachings of Jesus that comes from the "machine".

This is not working. We are not winning. We are not even in the fight as we get bulldozed by the right.

I think it is time to become the Resistance. Time to subvert from within. Time to use their own tactics against them and the best way to do this is to infiltrate them.

WHY WE SHOULD REGISTER REPUBLICAN

1. Your vote will be counted. I'm not saying to vote for the assholes, but lets face it, how many instances of Repukes did you hear about being scrubbed from the polls. How many vote machine shortages happened in Repuke precincts. If you register as a Puke, your registration will sail through with no problem. Then vote the bastards out.

2. You can "work" on their campaigns. This should be self explanatory but some creative "monkey wrenching" can cause a lot of disarray. You could erase records, screw up files, call prospective voters and talk about the "nigra" and the Fags and how they should all be sent to camps and exterminated and do whatever you can to alienate potential puke voters. You could work your way up to important staffing positions and then torpedo their events. I'm sure creative minds can come up with more.

3. You WILL cost them money. Every time they send you another piece of propaganda (and you will be on their mailing list so they will send you lots of it) you can do what I did to the draft board when they sent me a letter looking for my draft dodging brother; send them back salami peels and cigarette butts. Even better, sent them donations for a nickle, with a long letter about how you support them but can't find a job so this is all you can afford. It probably cost them many dollars to process this stuff and send this stuff so fuck with them.

I don't want to make this too long so I will stop here but the possibilities seem endless.

Thoughts?

2. I guess it is good for someone

who can stand to do it. I used to be a registered repuke back around the time of Raygun, I left the party because they would only listen to the RW. I was a moderate as was the rest of my family and basically told by Raygun that we were not wanted and that they were never going to listen to us. I think it is worth a try for anyone who can stomach registering repug but I think they are even less likely to listen now.

Also there is a battle within the Democratic party that we MUST win against the DLC. I think no matter which party one chooses to register in there is going to be a battle so choose which battle and then fight.

3. No thank you
I plan to work in the Democratic party, to work for my primary candidate, to vote in the Democratic primary, to actively support Democrats with my time, energy and money. I don't have any interest in being a goddamn Republican.

4. You can also hedge your bets
In states that are so red they are maroon, there will probably be a moderate rebub running in the primary and one that is like that bastard son of Tom Delay and the devil. So vote moderate repub in the primaries and at least get something that you can live with.

9. I don't think there is ever an excuse
to actually vote for one of the bastards. Even the so called moderate ones still goose step to the party line.

5. Only if we want to win
The tactic would work great for the NRA too. If all the dems joined the NRA we would take it over and decide how the lobbying dollar is spent. There is nothing noble about the approach, but there is nothing noble about politics.

13. My point is that
Registering Republican now would be like all the Germans who voted for Nazis in the 1930s because they were convinced that with a little hard work, they could change them into a moderate party.

15. I don't want to try to change them
I want to try to destroy them. I just think it might be easier from the position of "agent provocateur".

10. Registering Republican won't make us Republicans
They control the media, they control the voting machines and they control all houses of power in the country.

No, transnational corporations control the media and the Republican Party. The GOP is a front. It is not the real enemy. Even if Grover Norquist has wet dreams about a one-party state, this is not classical fascism. In classical fascism, the state organized industry and told industry what to do, while leaving it in private hands; in today's undemocratic model embodied by Bush, neoconservatism and corporatism, private industry organizes the state and only allows the state to pursue the public good when it does not conflict with private wealth.

It can be argued with justification that there is an element of the Democratic Party that pursues a similar vision; however, the Democratic Party also counts among its constituents elements that conflict more sharply with the private sector. More than before, the private sector does not see the give-and-take of democratic government as necessary to its long-term health. Consequently, they move to a more Republican-dominated solution. That is consistent with points number 2 and 3 at the top of the root post.

The problem is that when our goal implies the furthering of democracy, we cannot very well join forces with a force whose goal, if either unstated or stated in Orwellian terms, is the destruction of democracy. If we join them, they will still seek to roll over us.

What the rich need to learn is that they need the common people more than the common people need them. That is the lesson we must teach them. If they refuse to learn it, we must roll over them.

12. No argument from me!
It's why I celebrate May day and Bastille day. Every so often, the people need to create a new Holiday. Are we there yet?

14. NEVER. I won't sink to their levels.
Besides, I see some great days ahead for the Democrats if we are careful about who we put in party leadership.
