DNC: We need more DIVERSITY in the leadership.
Something I've noticed - how the traits we progressives seek exist in leaders that are usually associated with "black" factions of our party, and the traits that frustrate us come from the mainstream party leaders ignoring these repeated calls for action. It is disturbing to see how our leadership has stood on CRUCIAL issues: The 2000 & 2004 Elections and the Iraq War.

Who was vocal about election fraud in 2000? the NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Rainbow Coalition.

The rest of our leadership laid down.

Who stood in protest of the Iraq war? The Congressional Black Caucus from the get-go. Opposition didn't make it into MSM until Dean spoke up.

Not a peep from our party leadership.

Who is now calling for election fraud? Conyers, Rev. Jackson

Still nothing but self-flagellation from Al From, McCauliffe, Kerry & co.

I would like to examine these trends more closely, because in my frustration, I'm tempted to say that that there is more than just a philosophical divide between our party's "leadership" (by that I mean DNC chair, House/Senate 'minority' leaders, our nominee...), and the ones who vocally take on progressive causes.

I know this post will enrage some people, but it is sincerely meant as a call for more diversity at the highest ranks of our party's leadership. The call to bring in more progressives to the forefront goes hand in hand with bringing more minorities to the forefront. I will say that the continued ignoring of our black leaders will further weaken our party.

1. I agree with you
I think we do need to do something about the backwards direction the party is taking in matters of diversity.
