Reid says Senate Democrats plan investigatory hearings
<The new leader of Senate Democrats says his party will conduct investigative hearings next year into what he says are "unanswered questions" about problems in the Bush administration.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid says Democrats will provide the oversight that Republicans have been been reluctant to carry out.

Reid is replacing his defeated predecessor, Dakota's Tom Daschle.

North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan, who heads the Democratic Policy Committee, says the first investigative hearing might focus on contact abuse in Iraq.

The two senators say they would step aside whenever Republicans agreed to hold regular committee hearings on a topic. >

2. If the Pepugs take over any Investigation started by the Dems--I am
afraid that it will be whitewashed. Best that they hold their separate investigations.

6. I agree.. great deal
someone has to investigate this corrupt administration even if they don't have the power to bring action.

4. Maybe Conyer's hearings are providing inspiration for Reid.

9. About Time. This is great
We need to bring the worst to light and keep the focus on Bush's lies and corruption. That will keep him from accomplishing his agenda and hurt whoever runs in '08. Let the truth come out!
