1. Can you believe what they did to this guy? |
|
It truly boggles the mind - he got both a Bronze Star AND a Dishonorable Discharge - for the same actions! They actually punished him for trying to get INTO enemy fire.
This is what pisses me off so much about this frggin' war; they say "Support The Troops", and then do this! MEANWHILE, everyone ignores what Lesson #2 we were supposed to learn from Vietnam: Never, NEVER let the politicians run the war! Rummy is micro-managing the war, and being rewared for his complete incompetence.
Can someone tell me again why so many Vietnam Vets hate Robert MacNamara?

2. My partner was absolutely horrified by this story |

Will served during the last Gulf war. The Army's motto is "Improvise. Adapt. Overcome." Damned if they didn't do just that. So how come these guys get treated so harshly?
:wtf:

3. Here's an e-mail I got from my partner about this |

My partner served during the last Gulf war.
I do hope they receive clemency. The BC discharge hits Chief Birt especially hard, because it deprives him of his retirement pension and all VA bennies.
MAJ Kaus was the company commander, and is still in confinement.
One E-4 was busted to E-3. One SFC (E-7) was busted to E-3 (!!!) and locked up for three months. One SGT (E-5) was busted to E-1. Another E-5 and an E-6 are awaiting court-martial (this info is from June).
Apparently, forward units in Iraq had to forage for POL (petroleum, oil & lubricants). Many commanders authorized their troops to drain fuel and oil from abandoned vehicles, both military and civilian. If draining POL from abandoned vehicles is okay, then why not simply use the vehicles themselves?
