I want MY SIDE setting the issues and framing the debate, dammit!
I want the DEMOCRATS and the left in general to be bringing up the issues WE want to talk about.

I'm tired of hearing people constantly REACT to what the right brings up. I realize the media is almost completely in their hands, but I was listening to Randi Rhodes just now on AAR and this is not a gripe about her per se, this is the first time I ever listened to her, but she went on for a good 30-40 minutes about something Bill O'Lielly said about AAR. She had some fantastic points, but make them and then go on to talking about what the right NEVER talks about--things like homelessness, poverty, what the US is doing to the rest of the world, etc.

For Randi fans, please don't think this is just about her. She sounds great, I just hate that we give their arguments credibility by doing anything beyond rebutting them, then DISMISSING them then going on to OUR issues.

As for the elected Dems, forget it. I think most of them have been cowed into submission.

We HAVE to grab the debate, grab the mike, start pushing the loud mouths on the right into the corner and start setting the issues.

1. Great. Now how are you going to gain control of the broadcast media
so you can turn that mic on?

3. I can't do it alone.
But I have turned off my satellite service and have no cable. I refuse to patronize their propagandic crap anymore. If even HALF of all the Kerry voters turned off their cable or satellite and told their providers why (I did) it would make a HUGE statement.

I don't have billions of dollars and so I can't buy a network or two, but I do give until it hurts to organizations that I feel are working in that direction.

2. That's Why It's So Important for Dean to Get DNC Chair
He's one of the few people who routinely do that.

4. My side = peeps that will protect the rights and freedoms of all, not just
those currently in power. Human rights are human rights, regardless of who is in power. This is what can truly set us apart from the my side/your side tactics employed by the republican party. It doesn't have to be about labels. Yes the democrats seem better than the republicans to me. And the liberal dems seem better than the centrist dems to me. And if I keep going I'm sure I can finally distill my beliefs down to the one tiny group that truly represents me as an individual, but will be useless in trying to change the world for the better. The big draw of the Democratic Party to me has always been their (supposed) support of freedom and protecting the rights of ALL people. I hope this view does not turn out to be too "liberal" for the democratic party.
