What Each Candidate Needs in New Hampshire

Dean - must win. He has an 8-point lead now. If he falls to second, his campaign will have a perception of being finished... even with 40+ million in the bank. He can't fall behind Kerry here, or he's toast. He MIGHT survive a close second to Clark.

Kerry - Must win. If he loses a neighbor state to Dean, his money dries up and Iowa looks like a fluke. Needs 1st. Anything less is a loss.

Clark - must finish no worse than 2nd. Since he skipped Iowa, the pressure is on to show he can compete with the other guys. If he can come in 2nd in NH and then win SC, he has a fighting chance.

Edwards - Must finish no worse than 3rd. Currently in 4th in the polls, if he can surge to 3rd heading into SC he will be in a good position. A win in SC is an absolute MUST.

Lieberman - Needs every democrat in the state to stay home with the flu.

Sharpton, Kucinich - just go away already.

That's how I see it.
