for all of you who are interested.....
On CSPAN now, they rebroadcast the speech by Dean....
And Harkin introduced Dean and was yelling and get the crowed pumped up.....but that would undercut the Dean is out of control talking points.....
Can we at least get people to actually look at things before they decide to comment and condemn!!!!
It might help prevent ourselves from looking foolish.....
You know...rope and feed and hang......

4. That was a great speech. |
|
The only weird part was the Spanish. Everything else was spot on.
Take that, Dean bashers. Better watch it again.

it's so much more fun to let this one sink and keep the others at the top....why waste time on reality when the spin is so much more fun....

12. I watched it three times... |
|
first time was the worst. The second and third I wanted to take something good about it and I didnt think it was as bad as I initially thought.
In all truthfulness though, it's not exactly the best I've seen and Im not sure if normal everyday people watching that would get a sense of "comfort" out of it.

Don't see what the big deal is. Even the Spanish bit--he was interacting with someone in the crowd. Seemed just a sliver shaken, but that probably has to do with my perception. Hardly the 'collapse' it's been played up as.

10. Harkin had a number of concerned looks during the rant |
|
he was nervous and Dean turning back to look at him visibly chilled him.

Besides, why kick a man when he's down? We're all Democrats here, right? Right?

16. I dont think he's down..... |
|
not much.....the number of electoral votes are not that big....maybe a dozen....
Consider that Dean has over 100 committeed superdelegates to the next guy (who by the way is Gephardt)....
BuKu amounts of money......a steady lead in NH that has never flucuated...even while Iowa did.....
Kerry is predicted to run out of cash very soon, Edwards spent alot in Iowa....Clark (how close is he to the limit...Kerry has no cap...who do you think he's going to spend that cash on attacking in NH?)
Dean has troops on the groun in all 50 states...has already begun strategies in the next round of primaries through to March...while the other three are just getting started...
the fact that Kerry v Clark and Edwards v Clark will be the stories for the next few days.....
and that the media is going to train their very heavy guns on said candidates......
it should be interesting....no, I don't think my guy is down at all......(of course I had a moment of doubt...but so did Peter....hell he had three!)

13. Not Sure What This is About, But I Agree With The Sentiment |
|
Disclaimer: I'm a Clark backer. Have been since the beginning.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I'd like to weigh in with my comments on what I am guessing is some angle on the caucus outcome that says "Dean is done."
Foolish. That's what those people who are talking that angle up are, and you should call them out on it.
Whomever buys into that either has very thick blinders on or is ignorant of some recent (Bill Clinton) and not-so-recent (George H.W. Bush) history of Iowa finishes and eventual nominees for both the Democratic and Republican parties.
I know it's got to be disappointing to finish 3rd but none of you, your campaign, nor your candidate are in any jeopardy of falling off the electoral cliff or any such nonsense like that. I know some of my fellow Clark backers are probably wallowing in schadenfreude over the Iowa results, but history and my opinion of the particular dynamics of this campaign cycle tell me that you've got nothing to worry about.
And that's exactly what I would tell media outlets, individuals who are roasting you, and anyone else who would seriously think that this is the death knell for the Dean campaign. Because it simply isn't.

15. In 92, Clinton didn't challenge Harkin. No one did. |
|
Harkin is a Dem Iowa Senator, and they knew challenging an Iowan in Iowa would be futile.

Yes, he shouted too, but not so ... interestingly. Did he need to clear his throat or does he always sound like that?

I saw the speech and didn't think anything of it. I am not a Dean supporter, but I could see he was keeping his people up; plus, made good sense to me that he was glad to finish third. After all, Gephardt could have been in third. It was all reasonable to me. I enjoyed his speech and was glad he was up. Go Dean and Go Dems.
I have no problem supporting Gov. Dean if my preferred candidates go down. The pundits are just trying to gum up the works. Pay no attention, is my advice.
