Poll question: Is support for the NAFTA and the WTO moderate or right-wing conservative? |
|
Remember, under NAFTA and the WTO, countries are not allowed to enforce their own environmental or labor laws unless they want to pay lots of money in fines to the corporations with whose profits the environmental or labor laws interfere. Californians were not allowed to get rid of toxic substances in their water because of threats of suits under NAFTA.

2. Supported by Clinton, Gore and Kerry |
|
Sounds moderate to me. The poll results on here are odd. I guess people want to believe that whatever they think is right must be moderate. It's sad that people are afraid of the liberal label.

3. Do we have Clinton to thank for NAFTA and WTO? |
|
I should know this, but I forgot. If so, this is a horrible legacy for a democratic president.

6. Ohhhhh ...it looked so lucious to them at the time....All of them...and |

look at what it's done to us. There were many folks opposed to it at the time. Their careers were trashed...including a few in the press who were never the same afterwards.
It was a road down the path to hell. Instead of investing at home in keeping regulation tight to stop the "Merger Mania, Stock Market Craze of the late 90's and the Enron and Fannie May/Freddie Mac, Arthur Andersen and the rest Crooks" it allowed us to happily fill the US with importants that were cheap and cut off the ability of the "small business" to compete in the light manufacturing/textile businesses.
It's been a killer...but the "cow is out of the barn and long gone over the hill." We will live with this disgusting legislation...that Clinton compromised us on...for what? What did he get out of it. Eight years of being hounded by the Right and an Impeachment. He may have been for it at first but if he had misgivings later, he was so weakened he couldn't stop it or revise it or control it.
And Lieberman and Dodd made sure that Wall St. got the loosened regulation that led in tandem with the import flood to the Enrons and all the rest we are living with today...UGH......ARGHHHHHHHH A book needs to be written...I can't be rational about NAFTA....in writing everything I know about it....without raving
