Secretaries of State: this should be our number one goal in 06
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 03:46 PM by genius
No more Blackwells or Harrises. We need the secretaries of state on our side and willing to count all the votes. These are the people who determine who gets to vote and which votes get counted. Of course, we need to take back Congress too and get rid of Arnold. But to take back Congress, we need to have the votes counted.

2. There are bills in Congress. We need to get them passed.

In California, we will have a vv paper trial in 06. Shelley's done a good job for 06, though not for 03 and 04. Even with paper ballots, the count can be off with the tabulators. Also there is a disenfranchisement problem in states where the Republicans have the Secretaries of State. The Republicans oppose the paper ballots and it will be a lot easier getting them in if there is a Democrat in charge.

I think that paper ballots should be a goal for prior to 06 so that they are in place in 06.

5. Definitely. But a caveat...
They shouldn't be on OUR side, but the side of transparent, honest elections (I know, that's our side, but it avoids accusations of partisanship and Dems wanting to rig the vote).

But when even some DEMS are rotten, how do we ensure that any candidate we can rely on to count the votes honestly doesn't get blackboxed out during the primaries?
