Rep Mike Pence (R-IN): Election was "mandate for conservative leadership"
Another gloating, smirking, "beaming" DINK.

Conservatives welcome 'new day'

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=676&e=2&u=/usatoday/20041220/ts_usatoday/conservativeswelcomenewday

Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., was beaming over a cup of Capitol bean soup in the House of Representatives dining room one recent afternoon.

"The election was a mandate for conservative leadership in Washington," declared the new chairman of the House Republican Study Committee. The conservative caucus has grown from 40 members in the late 1990s to about 100 in the new Congress - not including five conservative former House members who are moving to the Senate.

Exit polls indicate social conservatives voted in about the same proportion as in 2000. But Pence and others credit them with President Bush's margin of victory over Democrat John Kerry and say the election was a referendum on conservative values.

"It's a new day," Pence said, "and a new Congress."

5. Unless he really gives a rats' ass about working class Americans, I have
but one thing to say: I wish the worst for his family. His 'family values' are as false as that smile on his face.

I've nothing more to say about that filth.

14. You wish the worst for his family?
That is ridiculous and petty. His daughter could grow up to be a liberal democrat for all you know.

Hillary Clinton comes from a GOP family.

Let's beat these guys fair and square but there is no room for hate. It is unproductive anyway.

9. Fortunately, 'conservative leadership' is an oxymoron

Since there's noplace to go, there's no such thing as leading the way there.

He must have meant something else. I believe it's a code phrase that translates to what they always say when they get power: "It's time to fleece the sheep again!"

12. I wonder if John Mellencamp has ever rethought his decision....
...to "probably die in" the same Indiana small town he was born in? I believe David Lee Roth and his family had the right idea and got the Hell out. Even Danny Quayle left, and he's a right winger!

No offense to those of you who live there, but God.... how do you stand it?? Bayh and Roemer are considered "liberals" and the Republicans (possibly excepting Lugar) are so far off the deep end they're drowning in irrationality and hatred.

13. I have to wonder that myself...
I posted on a local bulletin board asking if there was a situation
that would make those reading it consider taking up arms against
the government, and what that might be. I thought it was an
interesting subject, since they are the ones always harping about
the right to keep and bear arms.

I admit, there are mainly Repubs there, but I was curious, since none
of them seem to notice most of the "little things" going on under this
administration that I consider infringement on my constitutional rights.

Took about 2 minutes for a response...I was inciting sedition, and
bordering on treason. If they could only see who was on this side of
the keyboard. I don't even own a firearm. Best laugh I have had in a
long time.

Makes me wonder why they love their guns so much. I see crazy people.

15. Great!
Now maybe we will see the deficit reduced, nation building wars ended, a conservative stance on new-fangled, new-age voting machines; a return to family values of taking care of the children's health, future environment and all-around general well-being; and limited government involvement in an individaul's life.

Oh wait, I forgot, these are new conservatives who believe in a bloated federal budget; nation building; fancy, high priced, new-aged voting machines; a 'My family first, screw you' value system; and big brother looking over your shoulder at everyone's every move.

Gawd, how I do miss having the old conservatives around. Where'd they go?
