Who stands the benefit the most from Gephardt dropping out? |
|
Somebody who's for single-payer healthcare? Progressive taxation? Labor unions? anti-NAFTA/WTO? Midwesterner?
anybody know anybody like that?

1. Perhaps the guy with the most experience? |
|
That was certainly part of Gephardt's appeal. Experience and a long record of fighting for Democratic values.
I think Kerry gets Gephardt's support.
I could be wrong.

2. Two way split between Kerry and Dean |
|
Those two stand the most to gain..
Dean has the Unions, but Kerry is more ideologically similar to Gephardt (and is also a Washington insider, not a slam, but it's true)
I think his drop out will give a bit of a boost to each camp.

Didn't Gep's unions have a bitter rivalry with Dean's unions?
Didn't Kerry have the firefighters' unions?
The unions want to win. They will fall behind somebody they believe will prevail in the GE.

3. Dean is best positioned. But if he keeps getting pounded by the media |
|
without changing his campaign strategy, he'll barely pick up 20% -- just like in Iowa tonight.

4. Who left is a Midwesterner? |
|
I see possibly Kerry benefitting most from Gephardt dropping out, possibly some going to Edwards and Dean.

7. Kucinich and Edwards... |
|
What little support Gephardt had picked up was entirely from anti-NAFTA Democrats. This means that the pro-war protectionists will move toward the Edwards camp, while the anti-war protectionist will favor Kucinich.

My daddy worked in a mill.
Even with less experience and the different region, Edwards will benefit from Gephardt's withdrawal.
Both are champions of the working class, from the working class.

10. I would say Kerry and Edwards, depending on which he endorses |
|
I know Gep won't back Dean, too much bad blood.
