11. Every single Democratic Senator should stand up for this, but
unfortunately they won't. They'll sit there and wring their hands, just like they did in 2001. When will the Democrats ever grow a set?

3. I don't think he can, can he?
I mean, he's not legally a senator yet.

And besides, being the lone senator opposing an election where most of the nation wants to "move forward" is not the type of black spot a birthing young star of the democratic party wants on his resume as his first major role in the congress. It's not smart politics, for "down the road"...

4. Not alone
Only if he's joined by several others.
It's a freakin disgrace that we don't have 40 Senators willing to step up to the plate. THAT'S what's wrong with the democratic Party.

8. ???? No, unless...
If they ALL do (which I would love to see), then obviously he should join them.

BUT...otherwise, why the hell should a rank newbie be the one to stick his neck out the farthest? He's already got all that hype (read: ALBATROSS and TARGET) stuck on him without anything like the clout to match. Celebrity is NOT power.

Why not Durbin?

9. I'm a bit conflicted on this. I think no, he shouldn't, being a freshman
Senator with no real capital built up...but then I think how the situation would be if it were reversed and have no doubt "my" new Senator, Coburn (R-OK who I have known very well personally for 35 years) wouldn't hesitate to oppose a Kerry election. But ultimately, what we want won't affect (nor ought it) whatever Obama decides. I think.

32. It can't be Kerry.
Legally it can.

But I hope you would be truly happy with "not Bush". Because if Kerry were to challenge AND WIN, he wouldn't get anything done as president. If you can't see this I don't know how to explain it to you.

I don't like sitting around and hoping that Kerry is doing "something" behind the scenes anymore than anyone else. But one thing remains, Kerry has received the second most votes for President of any person in history. This does put him in good position to lead the challenge against Bush in the next 4 years. Challenge on the 6th AND LOSE, and he might as well retire on the 7th.

It's NOT fair but it's the way that it is.

14. Someone with seniority, like Kerry
It will be his first day at the office. He's the last one who should do it.

17. Someone like Robert Byrd might be better
He has seniority and respect, and has been outspoken against the Bush administration. IMO, he seems like the type of man who would stand up and not be intimidated.

19. Him and every senator of conscience. Democracy is at stake.
I am floored about the "no" votes. I am starting to think I am on the wrong forum. Is being a "moderate" meaning we have to do everyting to help W consolidate his ill gotten power? :wtf:

24. "You People"??
Well, if "You People" refer to those of us who stand with Senator Kerry, Senator Obamma, Senator Biden and coutless other honorable Democrats, then I guess "Us People" are "Blind" to whatever it is you see.

And personally, I like it that way. :)

28. Those who stand with ANY SENATOR over our right to vote.
Those who refuse to see that another election was stolen where you were standing for this guy and that guy. Those who refuse to see the big picture.
We didn't have a meaningful election since 1996. YOU PEOPLE.

25. Exactly. It is now or never.
If this thievery is not stopped in the aftermath of this election and BBV outlawed, the whole concept of a "star" is ridiculous. We'll never have another chance.

Democracy is on the line here, not protecting your own political future which will be negligible if democracy goes anyway.

31. Conyers has more than one senator apparently. Whoever they are
my hat's off to you. The rest of you, guard your irrelevant careers - I am sure your families are grateful. That's the nicest way I can put it.
But in a way, giving W another pass on election theft is even worse than authorizing an illegal, groundless war.

unhesitantly stand up and defend their democracy and the right to a fair and clean election. anything less is unacceptable.
